Nordic Walking and Running

Keeping up the pace with running and Nordic walking

Nordic walking is all the rage as a form of exercise and it is just as ideally suited to absolute sport novices as it is to experienced athletes. Few other sports are as effective while, at the same time, being free of risks and simple for everyone to pick up. This gentle endurance sport is, furthermore, easy on the joints and, thanks to the use of poles, it offers an excellent full-body workout.

Running and jogging are also enjoying ever-increasing popularity and have even attained something of a cult status. All over the world people are putting on their running shoes, on the one hand, to do something good for their body and, on the other, because running helps you to relax and switch off.

„running & nordic walking arena“

The “running & Nordic walking arena” offers sport enthusiasts an extensive and clearly-signposted network of Nordic walking and running trails throughout region. A 266-km network of trails containing 30 different routes invites you to burn off energy and tension. With routes classified into three different levels of difficulty and a wide variety of trail types (interval, agility, regeneration, fell running), the arena offers something for everyone, from absolute beginners to professional athletes. Alongside trails with such evocative names such as the “Anglers’ Run” and the “Root Track”, runners can also use the “Finnenbahn” woodchip trail in Seefeld which is ideal for training coordination and endurance. The arena can be used not only during the summer months, but also in winter when large sections of the trail network are cleared and groomed to cater for the needs of Nordic walkers and runners.
