Mountain Crystal Festival featuring Mario and Christoph of the Alpentrio Tirol, 16th – 19th May 2013 | Seefeld

In the spring of 2013, Mario and Christoph, formerly of the vocal trio Alpentrio Tirol, are putting on a four-day festival for all fans of traditional folk music and Alpine country tunes. Top-level artistes including Schürzenjäger, Charly Brunner, Michael Hirte and Simone have already signed up for the festival. The programme kicks off with a welcome party in the Kurpark on 16th May. Other musical highlights will include ‘Hit auf Hit’ on Friday, and ‘Starnacht’ on Saturday in the WM-Halle. Saturday will also see a huge ‘fan ramble’ along the Zirbenweg path on the Rosshütte. And the next morning, the festival will draw to a close with a comfortable Sunday brunch on the Rosshütte once again.

 

30th International Team Speed Chess Tournament, 17th – 20th May 2013 | Leutasch

Olympiaregion Seefeld also has plenty to offer when it comes to chess. Competitors in the International Team Speed Chess Tournament in the Alpenbadsaal in Leutasch play in teams of four, with two substitutes per team allowed. Within each group, a maximum of 16 teams are possible, everyone against everyone else. The prize money they’re playing for is substantial, and there are great prizes to be won from the Casino Collection.

 

7th Leutasch Mountain Spring Days, 2nd – 8th June 2013 | Leutasch

Special flora and fauna to be found in Leutasch, delicious food, stories and sagas, the land and its people, and nature at its finest! Just some of the ‘ingredients’ that go to make up the thrilling experiences at Leutasch Mountain Spring Days. Hans and Monika Neuner will be accompanying visitors through the week, with their vast reservoir of knowledge of the culture, traditions and nature of Leutasch high valley, supported by experts from alternating specialist fields. You can prepare a delicious organic mountain breakfast together by an open fire, or strike out with well-known expert on herbs and author Gertrude Messner to find out things you never knew about some of the wild herbs rediscovered in recent years.

 

Salomon Zugspitz Ultratrail, 21st  – 23rd  June 2013 | Leutasch

In the Salomon Zugspitz Ultratrail and Supertrail, two different routes lead up to 1,000 participants to the peak of what, at 2,962 metres above sea level, is Germany’s highest mountain. And in Leutasch, people are already looking forward to providing the starting point for the 70 kilometre-long Supertrail, and experiencing scenes in the race. In June 2013, the runners will tackle a 103-kilometre run over a difference in altitude of 6,027 metres in just one day. Supertrail runners will set off from the Weidach area of Leutasch at 9.00 in the morning on the 22nd June, with competitors in the Ultratrail starting from Grainau at 7.00 in the morning. The majority will finish the race in the dark, or even the small hours of the next day, after running for more than 24 hours. At around 71.5 kilometres, the shorter Supertrail also requires that competitors show true fighting spirit, with the last runners only expected to reach the finishing line after 17 hours. The varied route through the Wetterstein mountains, along fantastic trails and against a background of breathtaking scenery, means any effort the long-distance runners make will be worth every moment.

 

Forest Lake Festival in Leutasch, 29th June 2013 | Leutasch

It promises to be an unforgettable festival for the whole family when the hoteliers and landlords from Leutasch invite locals and visitors alike to the idyllic Weidachsee lake in Leutasch. Complete with fantastic live music, the festival guarantees a memorable experience: The Leutasch Marching Band will be opening the festival and performing a lively concert in the afternoon, while in the evening a party band will ensure an atmosphere of high spirits. Local culinary specialities, including fish, sausages and wild mushroom dishes, will be on offer as well as a colourful programme of activities for all our younger guests. The grand finale is at 11pm when fireworks will light up the lake in a dazzling blaze of colour. Free admission.

 

Motor Sport Days Seefeld, 28th June – 30th June 2013 | Seefeld

Roaring engines, great cars, shine and glamour. The Autosportclub Seefeld is organising a festival for all fans of high-performance cars which will be truly impressive. The programme will also include joint drives and a rally full of action-packed surprises through the Tyrolean mountain world guided by roadbook, and comfortable evenings. The festival also promises to be a great event for spectators, especially since the performance cars will be driving through the Seefeld pedestrian precinct in an autocross. 8th Raiffeisen Mountain Run to Seefelder Spitze, 23rd June 2013 | Seefeld

The Raiffeisen Mountain Run is the mountain run boasting the loveliest panorama in the Tyrol, and is highly recommended to nature-lovers, mountain athletes and both amateur and expert runners. The run starts at Dorfplatz, Seefeld’s village square, from where the participants have to battle their way uphill to an altitude of 1,040 metres on Seefelder Spitze peak. No matter whether it’s individual runners, pairs or teams – everyone’s warmly welcome to take part. More ambitious athletes like to combine the Mountain Run with the Karwendel Mountain Run in the nearby village of Mittenwald, so they can be included in the combination ranking of the Karwendel Mountain Run Cup. Strudelfest of the Seefeld Publicans, 6th July 2013 | Seefeld

It doesn’t matter whether you like yours piquant or sweet, fruity or hearty – on 6th July, you’ll find ‘strudel-tastic’ delicacies of every imaginable shape and size at the Strudelfest of the Seefeld Publicans. Anything’s possible, whether you devote yourself to feasting on the delicious strudels or prefer to produce your own creations with some tips from the confectioners on hand. On top of all that pleasurable feasting, there’ll be an exciting children’s programme in Seefeld’s pedestrian precinct and live music into the late evening.

 

Seefeld Village Festival, 20th July 2013 | Seefeld

Numerous clubs and associations have joined forces to host a village festival for guests and locals alike filled with fun attractions and mouth-watering culinary treats. Live musical entertainment from the afternoon until the late evening is ensuring a summer day to remember.

 

Magdalena Kirchtag, 22nd July 2013 | Leutasch

On 22nd July 2013, the whole community celebrates the Magdalena parish fete in Oberleutasch. Following the festival service and celebratory procession honouring St. Magdalena, the churchgoers assemble at Kirchplatzl square, in front of the Kühtaierhof hotel and tavern.  A wide range of associations from the Leutaschtal valley appear as hosts there, offering great attractions. You can listen to traditional dance music, enjoy homemade food from farmers’ wives from Leutasch or try your luck on the ‘Hau den Lukas’ test your strength machine – with its sociable atmosphere, the Kirchtag is a lovely experience for locals and guests alike!

 

45th Seefeld Flower Parade – Floral Fairy Tales, 4th August 2013 | Seefeld

On the first Sunday in August, the stage is traditionally cleared for vehicles to drive in circuits through Seefeld pedestrian precinct with huge structures decorated with lavish floral art on top of them. This year, the Seefeld Flower Parade brings fairytales to Seefeld: Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Puss in Boots and many more will be accompanying the Parade with thrilling, funny, and acrobatic art! This year’s Parade will also feature original fire engines from past decades, gleaming vintage cars and stately tractors from bygone eras.

 

White Night, 15th August 2013 | Seefeld

Fashion, lifestyle, a lust for life and sophisticated flair – all synonyms for the unique ‘White Night’ in Seefeld. On 14th August, the grand Fashion & Lifestyle Event of Seefeld Business Association will be held. Tyrol’s largest open-air fashion show at 85 metres, live music and DJs throughout the pedestrian precinct, walking acts, a summer grill, Casino Seefeld Charity Roulette & White Jackpot, and an atmospheric ‘white’ firework finale will turn night into day. And once again this year, the motto and dress code are: wear anything you want, as long as it’s WHITE. One party no ‘Fashionista’ in his or her right mind should miss.

 

6th Ganghofer Trail, 10th August 2013 | Leutasch

The incredible 266km of the ‘running & nordic walking arena’ of Olympiaregion Seefeld , coupled with the fresh Alpine air at an altitude of 1,200 metres, are guaranteed to make athletes’ hearts miss a beat. The high point of the 2013 running season will be on 10th August, when the Ganghofer Trail takes place in Leutasch for the fifth time. Participants have a choice between the half-marathon (21km) and a distance of 12km. The young ones, meanwhile, can enjoy a 2.1km Junior Run. And thanks to the route taking runners along paths in the woods and meadows of the Leutasch high valley, a beautiful landscape experience is always included. Karwendel March, 24th August 2013 | Scharnitz

To allow ambitious hikers, Nordic walkers and runners to enjoy the impressive beauty of Karwendel  Alpine Nature Park, Olympiaregion Seefeld is organising the now legendary Karwendel March together with the Vitalregion Achensee region. And in the high summer of 2013, the regions will once again be inviting participants to take part in a long distance march together. To do so, hikers will need to conquer paths leading to 2,281 metres in altitude (uphill).

The route leads from a start in Scharnitz, via the Eng valley, to Pertisau am Achensee. The emphasis throughout is on providing a fascinating nature experience and strengthening visitors’ awareness of Karwendel Alpine Nature Park as a unique environment for numerous rare flora and fauna. Ancient Crafts of Tyrol, 7th – 8th September 2013 | Seefeld

Look over the shoulder of a barrel cooper, experience the distinctive aroma of a rock oil distillery, or fortify yourself with typical treats such as ‘Kiachl’ or ‘Schmalzbrot’  – at this show, craftsmen from each and every part of Tyrol demonstrate their arts, many of which have almost disappeared in recent years, at over 100 stands and open-air spaces. Wheel makers and coopers, basket weavers  and schnapps distillers are just as welcome as soap boilers, knife grinders and quill pen embroiderers, all of whom are pleased to present the secrets of their traditional skills to a wider public. Special attractions include the tractor parade on Saturday and a grand costume procession on Sunday.

 

14th IML 3-Day Unicorn March, 12th – 15th September 2013 | Seefeld

The International Marching League feels very much at home in Olympiaregion Seefeld , and this year it is organising the International 3-Day Unicorn March, together with the Tourist Association, for the 14th time. According to the motto ‘Nos iungat ambulare – Walking Unites Us’, walkers from countries around the world conquer up to 42 kilometres a day. The time taken to do so is a side issue; what really counts is the chance to enjoy movement in nature. And later on, international companionship continues to be lived at the grand Tyrolean Evening in the WM Halle.

 

17th International Seniors’ Autumn Football Tournament, 13rd – 15th September 2013 | Seefeld

Already well-known as a training centre for top international football teams, Seefeld will be hosting a Seniors’ Football Tournament, playing for the grand prize of Casino Seefeld, this autumn. Teams from Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland have already announced they will be playing one another on the two well-kept football pitches at the WM-Sportanlagen, enjoying a weekend of fun and excitement.

 

15th Ganghofer Hubertuswoche, 6th – 12th October 2013 | Leutasch

The Ganghofer Hubertuswoche in Leutasch is one of the most popular traditional events to be held in the Olympiaregion Seefeld. Exciting themed walks on the trail of Ludwig Ganghofer, interesting talks and exhibitions about hunting mean nature lovers are sure to find everything they’re looking for here. Events such as a Hunters’ Regular Table and a Hunters’ Evening mean the programme will also include culinary pleasures aplenty.
