NORDIC COMBINED
At the Olympic Winter Youth Games in 2012, there is only the Nordic combined men's competition. Resilience and technical perfection in jumping and endurance and stamina in the long run were on 15.1. the determining factors. Also known as the "Gunderson" or pursuit start, the result of the ski jumping determines the starting order for the cross-country race, so the best jumper starts first.

BIATHLON
The biathlon is a combination of cross-country skiing and shooting. The cross-country skiing requires tremendous endurance, while shooting requires accuracy and precision. At the first Winter Youth Olympic Games 2012 are the following three races, each held for women and men, 6 km sprint for women and 7.5 km sprint for men, a pursuit race over 7.5 km for women and 10 km for men and one mixed relay with two women (both 6 miles) and two men (each 7.5 km).
