Romantic Advent
The quietest time of the year becomes a real experience in the unique atmosphere of the Tyrolean mountain winter – enjoy the festive anticipation for the holiday season and let the Advent experience of the five villages of the region wash over you.
Atmospheric Advent markets, Christmas concerts and reflective walks to local chapels – in the unique atmosphere of the Tyrolean mountain winter, the quietest season of the year is transformed into a particularly special experience. With its log cabin-style huts and lovingly thought-through gift ideas, Seefeld’s Advent market is always worth a visit. Surrounded by local horn players, choirs and a host of other attractions with a Christmas theme, including the ‘angels’ post office’ and the Advent handicrafts corner, visitors large and small alike will feel equally at home at the market. Taking part in one of Monika and Hans Neuner’s guided tours of the chapels in the Leutasch area is also a moving experience. With the musical backing of choirs or Alpine horn musicians in the background, participants walk the path connecting the Leutasch chapels by night, each carrying a flaming torch to light their way, and their guides tell the buildings’ stories in truly atmospheric style. Nearby, the smaller towns of Mösern, Reith and Scharnitz also offer lovely and highly individual Advent programs, and are always worth dropping in on.
Atmospheric Advent Market in Seefeld
The traditional Advent market in Seefeld offers lovingly-decorated huts in Tyrolean cabin style for a stroll through the pedestrian area. The visitor has the choice of truly authentic fare, from tasty snacks to regional handicrafts and the sounds of the Seefeld brass band. Children can create their own Christmas decorations and presents in the play area or send a letter to the Christ Child at the “Angels’ Post Office”. A particular musical attraction is offered by concerts in the St Oswald Parish Church and the highlight of the advent, the concert of the superstar of popular music, "Hansi Hinterseer", who will perform in Seefeld on 13rd Dec. 2013.
Traditional Customs in Leutasch
In the traditional Leutasch valley customs can be experienced which some think have died out in the modern age. The Leutasch “original” Bantl-Hansi leads the chapel walks with torches and Christmas folk songs and can tell you everything you need to know about the 19 chapels in the valley. As an extra attraction the Wilten Boy’s Choir will also be making the Leutasch parish church ring with their clear vocals and will be offering a concert of new and old Christmas carols. Remember Christmas the way it was in days gone by.
An individual atmosphere for the Christmas Holidays in Mösern, Reith and Scharnitz
The smaller villages in the Olympiaregion Seefeld create their own magic with individual Advent programmes that you cannot find anywhere else. For example, in Mösern one can stroll along the Peace Bell trail following seven stations to the bell itself. Especially in the Advent period the sound of the largest free-standing bell in the Alps reminds us of peace and theimportance of being a good neighbour. Village community and Tyrolean customs feature in the Advent events in the villages of Reith and Scharnitz.
