Leutasch Spirit Gorge / Leutasch
Welcome to the realm of the Spirit of the Gorge and his goblins!

Everyone has heard of ghosts, gremlins and dwarfs. They are said to be at home in unspoilt nature, although very few humans have managed to actually see any of these creatures…
Right at the back of the Leutasch Gorge when we enter the forest through the gorge gateway, we feel a strange and mysterious reality. It is the realm of the Spirit of the Gorge, who gets up to all kinds of tricks deep down in his roaring, bubbling castle of bottomless whirlpools and maelstroms, of thundering waterfalls and bizarre rock formations. An exciting path lets us view the breathtaking home of the Spirit of the Gorge.
The goblins of the gorge and the water dwarfs live right at the end of the gorge, which can reach up to 75 m deep in places. They are all creatures of nature that we can only see and hear if we leave our everyday lives behind and dive into the mysterious world of the Spirit of the Gorge.
Three paths through the realm of the Spirit of the Gorge
The 3000 m long Spirit Gorge Trail runs for part of the way on a daring 800 m man-made section. At the various stops along the way, the Spirit of the Gorge has all kinds of mysteries and secrets to tell us about his realm. The 1900 m Goblin Trail leads from the Mittenwald Gorge kiosk, past glacier-polished rock into Leutasch Gorge. At the individual stations, the goblins tell us about the geology and the various rocks in Leutasch Gorge and about the effect of the glaciers during the Ice Age. At the end of the gorge near Mittenwald, the 200 m waterfall trail leads deep down into the Leutasch Gorge and finishes at a 23-meter-high waterfall (charge for admission).
The path is not suitable for dogs or baby buggies. Cycling is not permitted.
Closed in the winter months
