For over 80 years the traditional mountain inn Gletscherschliff has been serving hikers at the end of the spectacular Leutascher Geisterklamm. The 25,000-year-old natural monument Gletscherschliff, which bears the traces of the massive Inn Valley glacier, is located directly next to the restaurant. Access to the former glacier channel is possible from Mittenwald as well as via the Koboldsteig from Leutasch.
In winter the ancient tiled stove crackles in the cosy traditional Tyrolean restaurant, in summer you can enjoy picturesque views of the Karwendel mountains from the sun terrace. Rumour has it that some guests visit the two hut owners Heini and Maria primarily for the legendary Kaiserschmarren and their homemade cakes. Every Thursday from seven on, the family business also invites you to a convivial evening in the hut with Byric mountain music. Private parties can also be booked and due to the erratic data connection, only cash payment is currently possible in the Gletscherklamm.
LOCATION & STARTING POINT
Access to the Gletscherschliff mountain inn is possible from both Mittenwald and Leutasch: in Leutasch you can leave your car at the Schanz car park for a fee, in Mittenwald you can park either at the Riedboden recreation area or at the Mittenwald hiking car park. The ascent to the hut is easy from both starting points, well signposted and comfortable.
