The Neue Magdeburger Hütte (formerly Solsteinhaus) at 1,663 metres above sea level has been renovated and expanded again and again during its long existence, but has lost none of its original charm to this day. The former hunting lodge with its children's playground and adjacent climbing garden offers a varied stay among flowering alpine meadows, especially for big and small children. Down-to-earth Tyrolean specialities from our own production give new strength for hikes and mountain tours. On request, you can also stay overnight at the rustic Alpine Club hut during the warm summer months. Charging facilities for e-bikes are also available (please bring your own charger).

OVERNIGHT STAY
In summer you can also stay overnight at the idyllic refuge below the Solstein. The 19 room beds and 55 camp beds may only be used with a (hut) sleeping bag (available on site), however, in consideration of others, and slippers are also welcome. Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the overnight camp, but are given their own place to sleep in the cosy parlour. Overnight guests can choose between breakfast or half-board at the hut; prior reservation is requested in any case.

STARTING POINT
The ascent to the new Magdeburger Hütte starts from the Hochzirl railway station or provincial hospital. From Seefeld or Scharnitz take the train to Hochzirl and from the station walk a short distance through the forest (or by bike along the asphalted mountain road) to the hospital car park. Those arriving by car can park here and then follow the signposted hiking trails to the new Magdeburger Hut.

SUMMER TOURS

  • Hike from Hochzirl. You reach the idyllic Hochzirl railway station via what is probably the most beautiful train route in the Alps. A stretch through sparse pine forest to the former Hochzirl pulmonary sanatorium. From there, the moderately difficult hike follows narrow but well-signposted forest paths through the picturesque Ehnbachklamm gorge to the new Magdeburger Hut. After a well-deserved refreshment, you return to the valley along the same path.
