Event Overview Summer 2016


Sporting highlights and traditional customs, culinary delights and huge amounts of fun and entertainment, of course – you’ll experience all these pleasures and more at the long list of summer events in Olympiaregion Seefeld.

5th Mountain Crystal Festival featuring Mario and Christoph
12th – 15th May 2016 | Seefeld

In the spring of 2016, Mario and Christoph, formerly of the vocal trio Alpentrio Tirol, are putting on a four-day festival for all fans of traditional folk music and Alpine country tunes. The programme kicks off with a welcome party in the Kurpark on 12th May. Other musical highlights will include the Nockalmquintett and the Young Zillertalers’ on Friday.
In addition, on Saturday fans can accompany their idols on a hike along beautiful trails in the mountains after which they can enjoy the spring sunshine and a convivial pre-lunch get-together in the Casino WMHalle. On Sunday music fans can say their farewells to Mario and Christoph during a late-morning get-together complete with hearty, traditional “Radio U1 Frühshoppen" as well in the WM Tennishalle.

33rd International Team Speed Chess Tournament
13th – 15th May 2016 | Leutasch

Olympiaregion Seefeld also has plenty to offer when it comes to chess. Competitors in the International Team Speed Chess Tournament in the Saal Hohe Munde in Leutasch play in teams of four, with two substitutes per team allowed. Within each group, a maximum of 16 teams are possible, everyone against everyone else. The prize money they are playing for is substantial, and there are great prizes to be won.

10th Leutasch Mountain Spring Days
05th – 11th June 2016 | Leutasch

Just some of the ‘ingredients’ that go to make up the thrilling experiences at Leutasch Mountain Spring Days. Hans and Monika Neuner will be accompanying visitors through the week, with their vast reservoir of knowledge of the culture, traditions and nature of Leutasch high valley, supported by experts from alternating specialist fields. You can prepare a delicious organic mountain breakfast together by an open fire, or strike out with well-known expert on herbs to find out things you never knew about some of the wild herbs rediscovered in recent years. A panoramic guided tour up to 2.2.44 m a.s.l. is as well an important part of this week of nature.

10th – 11st June 2016 | Seefeld

The traditional “Dirndljäger Ball” held in the legendary Sportalm in Seefeld –  a unique event with an emphasis on traditional costumes, fun and dancing, glamour and fashion, complete with non-stop live music to get everyone in the party spirit! The hosts of this year’s ball, popular Austrian entertainer Gregor Glanz, Charles & Moni Seyrling, Armin Wanner and Günther Prantl, invite you to enjoy an unforgettable evening in the legendary “Sportalm” in Seefeld which, once again, will be transformed into THE place to be for fans of chic Alpine fashion, glamour and live music performed by top acts.

11th Raiffeisen Mountain Run
19th June 2016 | Seefeld

The Raiffeisen Mountain Run is the mountain run boasting the loveliest panorama in the Tyrol, and is highly recommended to nature-lovers, mountain athletes and both amateur and expert runners. The run starts at Dorfplatz, Seefeld’s village square, from where the participants have to battle their way uphill to an altitude of 1,040 metres on Seefelder Spitze peak. No matter whether it’s individual runners, pairs or teams – everyone’s warmly welcome to take part.

Ambassadors of Music 2016
20th June – 29th July 2016 | Seefeld

The popular “Ambassadors of Music”, singers and musicians from various college bands from the USA, will be performing in the Olympiaregion Seefeld for the 32nd time between 20th June and 29th July. With their inspiring concerts they will once again be treating their audiences to an unparalleled spectrum of musical entertainment. From rousing performances in the Kurpark to lyric choir recitals in the parish church, the young musicians offer something for everyone’s musical palate. Salomon Zugspitz Ultratrail
25th June 2016 | Leutasch

In the Salomon Zugspitz Ultratrail and Supertrail, two different routes lead up to 1,000 participants to the peak of what, at 2,962 meters above sea level, is Germany’s highest mountain. And in Leutasch, people are already looking forward to providing the starting point for the 70 kilometer-long Supertrail, and experiencing scenes in the race. The varied route through the Wetterstein mountains, along fantastic trails and against a background of breath taking scenery, means any effort the long-distance runners make will be worth every moment.

Motor Sport Day Seefeld

Roaring engines, great cars, shine and glamour. The “Autosportclub” Seefeld is organising a festival for all fans of high-performance cars which will be truly impressive. The programme will also include joint drives and a rally full of action-packed surprises through the Tyrolean mountains. The festival also promises to be a great event for spectators, especially since the performance cars will be driving through the Seefeld pedestrian precinct in an autocross. Info:

Seefeld Summer Concerts 2016 - "Sound of music"

Strudelfest of the Seefeld Publicans

It doesn’t matter whether you like yours piquant or sweet, fruity or hearty – on 9th July, you’ll find ‘strudel-tastic’ delicacies of every imaginable shape and size at the Strudelfest of the Seefeld Publicans. Anything’s possible, whether you devote yourself to feasting on the delicious strudels or prefer to produce your own creations with some tips from the confectioners on hand. On top of all that pleasurable feasting, there’ll be an exciting children’s programme in Seefeld’s pedestrian precinct and live music into the late evening.

“Magdalena Kirchtag“

Customs and traditions are in the spotlight on 22nd July 2016, the whole community celebrates the Magdalena parish fete in Oberleutasch. Following the festival service and celebratory procession honoring St. Magdalena, the churchgoers assemble at Kirchplatzl square, in front of the Kühtaierhof hotel and tavern.  A wide range of associations from the Leutaschtal valley appear as hosts there, offering great attractions. You can listen to traditional dance music, enjoy homemade food from farmers’ wives from Leutasch – with its sociable atmosphere, the “Kirchtag” is a lovely experience for locals and guests alike!

Seefeld Village Festival

Numerous clubs and associations have joined forces to host a village festival for guests and locals alike filled with fun attractions and mouth-watering culinary treats. Live musical entertainment from the afternoon until the late evening is ensuring a summer day to remember.

2nd Flower & Ice Festival
06th –  07th August 2016 | Seefeld

Colorful flowers swathed in ice, ice figures amid summer temperatures and a mystic light parade show – come and be part of it all at the “Flowers & Ice” event on the first weekend in August in Seefeld’s pedestrian zone with mystical music, majestic larger-then-life figures and a dazzling, illuminated ship will cast a spell over all who watch. Sunday’s program will be opened in a traditionally Tyrolean manner with a parade of the village marching band and other local associations, before the agenda of events continues in the pedestrian area until well into the afternoon with countless “cool” goings-on, small parades, street entertainers and loads to discover for young and old alike. 10th Days of Music of the Olympiaregion Seefeld
7th – 21st August 2016 | Seefeld

Two basic ideas have been combined in developing the concept for the "Days of Music". On the one side those interested in beautiful music should be spoiled by internationally renowned artists and their interesting interpretations. To celebrate the little anniversary of our festival seven concerts in total are offered as well as a five-day workshop for children and youngsters to pass on to them experience, tips and suggestions.

Leutasch Summer Market

On Sunday 09th August the Leutasch Summer Market will, once again, be taking place in Weidach. Between 10 am and 6 pm you can take a stroll round the lovely market in Leutasch with its traditional handicrafts and local specialities and enjoy a spot of shopping. Rounding off the market event are authentic folk music, a spacious play area for children and a fantastic programme of activities for kids!

9th Ganghofer Trail
13th August 2016 | Leutasch

The incredible 266 km of the ‘running & Nordic walking arena’ of Olympiaregion Seefeld, coupled with the fresh Alpine air at an altitude of 1,200 metres, are guaranteed to make athletes’ hearts miss a beat. Participants have a choice between the half-marathon (21 km) and a distance of 12 km. The young ones, meanwhile, can enjoy a 2.1 km Junior Run. And thanks to the route taking runners along paths in the woods and meadows of the Leutasch high valley, a beautiful landscape experience is always included. White Night – Fashion & Lifestyle Party
14th August 2016 | Seefeld

Fashion, lifestyle, a lust for life and sophisticated flair – all synonyms for the unique ‘White Night’ in Seefeld. On 14th August, the grand Fashion & Lifestyle Event of Seefeld Business Association will be held. Tyrol’s largest open-air fashion show at 85 metres, live music and DJs throughout the pedestrian precinct, walking acts, a summer grill, Casino Seefeld Charity Roulette & White Jackpot, and an atmospheric ‘white’ firework finale will turn night into day. And once again this year, the motto and dress code are: wear anything you want, as long as it’s WHITE. One party no ‘Fashionista’ in his or her right mind should miss.

Karwendel March

„Karwendelmarsch “long distance hike. Along a 52 km route from Scharnitz to Pertisau or a 35 km route to Eng, the max. 2.500 participants can take the beauty of the Alpenpark Karwendel. To allow ambitious hikers, Nordic walkers and runners to enjoy the impressive beauty of Karwendel Alpine Nature Park, Olympiaregion Seefeld is organizing the now legendary Karwendel March together with the Vitalregion Achensee region. And in the high summer of 2016, the regions will once again be inviting participants to take part in a long distance march together. To do so, hikers will need to conquer paths leading to 2,281 metres in altitude (uphill). Info:

Folk music delights “Ernst Hutter & The Egerländer Musicians”
28th August – 4th September 2016 | Leutasch

During late summer of 2016, a myriad of voices will be resounding in the Leutaschtal valley. The week is made up of various concert evenings, guided hikes to one of the famous huts in the Leutasch Valley and workshops for active musicians. A special highlight is the “Concert of Ernst Hutter & the Egerländer Musicians” on Saturday 03rd September. This successful brass band will celebrate their 60th anniversary in Leutasch.

19th Ancient Crafts of Tyrol
10th – 11th September 2016 | Seefeld

Look over the shoulder of a barrel cooper, experience the distinctive aroma of a rock oil distillery, or fortify yourself with typical treats such as ‘Kiachl’ or ‘Schmalzbrot’ – at this show, craftsmen from each and every part of Tyrol demonstrate their arts, many of which have almost disappeared in recent years, at over 100 stands and open-air spaces. Wheel makers and coopers, basket weavers and schnapps distillers are just as welcome as soap boilers, knife grinders and quill pen embroiderers, all of whom are pleased to present the secrets of their traditional skills to a wider public. Special attractions include the tractor parade on Saturday and a grand costume procession on Sunday.

17th IML 3-Day Unicorn March
16th – 18st September 2016 | Leutasch

From 16th to 18th September 2016, the International 3-day Unicorn Walk will be taking place for the 17th time in the Olympiaregion Seefeld. New this time is that the wonderfully scenic hikes will be starting from and finishing in Leutasch. According to the motto ‘Nos iungat ambulare – Walking Unites Us’, walkers from countries around the world conquer up to 42 kilometres a day. The time taken to do so is a side issue; what really counts is the chance to enjoy movement in nature. And
later on, international companionship continues to be lived at the grand Tyrolean Evening.

18th “Ganghofer Hubertuswoche”
02nd – 08th October 2016 | Leutasch

The “Ganghofer Hubertuswoche” in Leutasch is one of the most popular traditional events to be held in the Olympiaregion Seefeld. Exciting themed walks on the trail of Ludwig Ganghofer, interesting talks and exhibitions about hunting mean nature lovers are sure to find everything they’re looking for here.
