Safe holidays in the Olympiaregion Seefeld

This page is constantly updated and expanded. Subject to change without notice. Status September 7, 2020

Safe together in autumn and winter 20/21

We approach each other with prudence and responsibility in the Olympiaregion Seefeld and take the current situation very seriously. The health and safety of our guests, employees and residents are our top priority. With comprehensive hygiene measures, the most modern safety concepts and the utmost caution, we look forward to the winter season together.

The coming winter understandably raises many questions. That is why the tourist board, our communities and hosts are working closely with the authorities and health experts to ensure that our guests have a safe and wonderful winter vacation in our unique alpine region. We have therefore also decided on clear rules and measures for the coming winter season in the Olympiaregion Seefeld and ask everyone to act with personal responsibility and respect for others in the region.

Even if this sometimes means wearing the mask once more than necessary, keeping a baby elephant at a greater distance than necessary or maybe even doing without a popular excursion destination for once. In our versatile region of enjoyment there is always a less frequented alternative with even more freedom! Together we protect not only ourselves, but also our fellow men.

We thank you for your loyalty, your trust and your help. Together we look forward to seeing you again in winter - with the usual passion, warmth and cordiality!

Measures and regulations at a glance

Most of our accommodations offer special or flexible booking and cancellation conditions for the winter season. We also recommend that all our guests take out travel insurance. All bookable accommodations are optionally available including European travel insurance. This currently insures Covid-19 diseases as well as any other unexpected serious illness before and during the stay.

The open plateau of the region can be reached by many ways, is located directly at the German border (toll-free via Mittenwald-Scharnitz or Mittenwald-Leutasch) and only 20 km from Innsbruck. Directions: via Mittenwald-Scharnitz (B2, exit "Scharnitz/Seefeld") / via Innsbruck-Zirler Berg (A12, exit "Zirl Ost") / via Telfs (A12, exit "Telfs Ost").

The guest card of the Olympiaregion Seefeld is also valid as a ticket for regional transport during your stay. In all public transportation, without exception, masks are mandatory and, if possible, a minimum distance is required.

The 5 local communities, the tourist office with its information offices and public facilities as well as many of our localities and accommodations have specially trained Corona security personnel who ensure the complete implementation and compliance with the current safety regulations and are available to answer questions, clarify issues and make suggestions.

Our employees from the hotel industry, gastronomy, information offices and many other sectors are regularly and extensively tested on a voluntary basis. This makes the Olympiaregion Seefeld one of the areas with the most tests in Austria.
Trained personnel, strict regulations for restaurant and wellness areas as well as a strict disinfection concept ensure safety. In the event of acute suspicion of infection, strict local security measures are immediately implemented in order to trace the most recent chain of contact and to interrupt any spread of infection in the early stages.
Guests in the region also have the opportunity to have themselves tested quickly and easily (e.g. in the regional medical practices), not only in case of suspicion.

- University Hospital Innsbruck (25 km)

- State hospital Hall (34 km)

- Hospital Garmisch-Partenkirchen (45 km)

- 5 resident doctors / 3 (house) pharmacies
The offices of Dr. Alois Durnes, Dr. Benedikt Klein, Dr. Andreas Wiseman and Dr. Oswald Heis offer corona and/or antibody testing in the region.

For increased traceability in case of infection we recommend the installation of an anonymized tracking app. In cooperation with the Austrian Red Cross, we developed the Stop Corona App for this purpose, which immediately informs users about positive test results in the course of contact.

The four-stage Corona traffic light was developed by the Ministry of Health. Depending on the colour, preventive measures are also recommended for the catering, tourism and leisure industries. The current traffic light map can be found on the corresponding Corona traffic light homepage. There is also a guideline for the various risk levels with corresponding prevention measures in all economic sectors. Further information is also available here.

All planned major events have been cancelled and the existing events will only be carried out by the tourism association in compliance with the valid official regulations. The majority of our events take place outdoors, for indoor events appropriate security measures are worked out and posted at the entrances and exits on site.

Every guest will find a lot of space and freedom to keep social distancing without any problems. With its open landscape and its extensive mountain valleys, the Olympiaregion offers a lot of space to take a deep breath: On average, everyone in Seefeld has 3 soccer fields, locals and vacationers put together.

Furthermore, all tourist offers in the region have been revised and adapted in terms of security to avoid crowds of people and infection clusters. Winter hiking, cross-country skiing and tobogganing are just some of the activities offered on the extensive plateau in the immediate vicinity of the accommodation.

In order to be able to offer every guest his or her own personal "winter adventure" in the Olympiaregion Seefeld, an attractive guest program will be organized in winter 2020/21 as well, which will easily combine individual experience with safety regulations.

About 250 cross-country track kilometers connect the most beautiful places of the Olympiaregion Seefeld. On the wide cross-country ski tracks, keeping a distance is even prescribed by the official FIS regulations. Protective masks are not necessary when moving under the open sky. When entering toilets or changing rooms we recommend to wear a mouth and nose protection (mask, scarf, neckerchief, buff) out of consideration for others and to keep the necessary minimum distance. During the winter season, high-quality multifunctional tubular cloths (buffs) can be purchased in all information offices in the Olympiaregion.

Day tickets for the cross-country ski tracks are available at numerous sales points and vending machines, so there will be no long queues or waiting times.

Cross-country skiing courses can be booked online and take place in small groups. Meeting points for groups will be offered at different times and places, guest gatherings will be prevented and professional video technique analyses will be carried out out outdoors without exception.

Our wide slopes offer enough space for wide carving turns. In addition, almost all kilometers of slopes can be reached by open chair lifts and drag lifts! You only have to wear a mouth-and-nose protection when queuing/transporting at lifts, in gondolas and funiculars. Closed lift facilities (funicular, gondolas, etc.) are disinfected several times a day with a 3D-ultrasound cold fogging system. Employees with close customer contact (those who assist with the lift entrance or with the "hanger handover") wear MN protection. In addition to regular employee testing, the Rosshütte mountain railroads in particular play it safe with daily employee temperature measurements. All children's areas can be reached directly from the car or bus without a lift. Disinfection stations are also available at key points, public sanitary facilities, entrances and exits. Please also observe the prescribed safety distance outdoors!

In selected ski schools, rental shops and ski lifts, guests receive a free mouth and nose protection when buying a ski ticket, booking a ski course or using the ski rental service. Hotels that offer ski passes exclusively for house guests are also provided with the necessary technical equipment (special printers, screens, disinfectant dispensers).

In addition to all the measures mentioned above, our regional ski schools have been provided with recommendations for action by the Austrian Ski School Association, which contribute to your health safety.

In the Olympiaregion we focus on real nature experiences, always have. That's why we don't focus on parties, but on a variety of activities in the fresh air and first-class enjoyment in our excellent restaurants and wellness facilities. Après-ski bars, nightclubs and discotheques will not be found in the Olympiaregion Seefeld.
Numerous huts and restaurants set on security and exclusivity: Visitor numbers are screwed down, the personnel carries MN protection, the coworkers are tested regularly, disinfection, cleanliness and hygiene are largely written and also on safe contact person management large value is put.

Special safety and hygiene measures apply in swimming pools, saunas and wellness areas. Sauna infusions are currently not allowed, and sauna guests are also subject to stricter distance rules and capacity restrictions in the sweat and relaxation rooms. Please follow the respective local guidelines carefully.

In cooperation with the Tyrolean provincial government and the University of Innsbruck, wastewater tests are also carried out continuously in the Olympiaregion Seefeld, which indicate possible infections with a high degree of accuracy. With these regular monitorings, possible unnoticed sources of infection can also be detected early on and effectively combated immediately.

A yearning for space

What drives us to travel. It's the search for paradise. A yearning for space. For natue and the people who shape our land and culture. A serenity that touches our hearts and gives the soul room to breathe.
