A HOST RESORT WITH HISTORY AND TRADITION
The Olympic flame has burned 3 times in the Olympiaregion Seefeld in Tyrol, when the region hosted the Nordic disciplines for the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics and then for the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games.
Seefeld first played host to the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships in 1985. Now, thanks to the experience and know-how of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV), the excellent local infrastructure, award-winning cross-country trails, clever sustainability concepts and superb sporting competences, Seefeld is set to shine for a second time when it hosts the World Championships in the spring of 2019.
Tradition has played an important role in the Olympiaregion Seefeld for generations. Tourism is regarded as a great responsibility and respect for people and culture is a priority. The exceptional Nordic strengths plus the Olympic history and other major sporting events serve to increase an awareness of the fantastic natural surroundings. Not only has the railway station been redeveloped as part of the run up to the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships 2019, but other quality initiatives – particularly in regard to the cross-country trail network and infrastructure – have also been implemented.
“HAND IN HAND“ is the motto Seefeld has selected for its role as Nordic hotspot. There is huge delight at having the Nordic ski circus here on the plateau from 19.02. to 03.03.2019. Come and join us for some top-class sporting competitions when around 700 athletes from over 60 countries will be giving their all to win one of the coveted medals in the 21 events being held here and at the historic Bergisel in Innsbruck.
We would like to wish all visitors and fans a truly memorable experience here with us: “Let’s celebrate a Nordic Ski Festival“.
