This was the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2019

12 days, 22 medal decisions and 204,400 cheering visitors - the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships are now part of the sports history of the Region Seefeld. Bright picture-book weather on almost all competition days created a lively atmosphere among the visitors from all over the world and the athletes were also enthusiastic about the local conditions.

On 19th of February the first athletes prepared for the coming days, 1,300 media representatives and journalists set up their quarters in the press centre and the restaurateurs of the Nordic Mile diligently filled their stands. On 20.02. the first qualifications and trainings took place in the World Championships Arena and in the evening the visitors enjoyed a colourful and sparkling opening ceremony with world champion character! From that day on, things changed in Seefeld - nations came together, fans from different countries cheered together, athletes motivated each other and hundreds of international volunteers contributed decisively to the success of the World Championships. True to the motto "Hand in Hand", a special atmosphere prevailed in the WSC arena, which revived top-class sport in the Region Seefeld.

A winning nation with charm: Norway
The team sprint, the Nordic combined, the mass start and the skiathlon were all exciting competitions. The Norwegian won a total of 13 gold medals, followed by Germany with six and Sweden with two gold medals. Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Therese Johaug and Jarl Magnus Riiber obviously felt comfortable on the podium after numerous medal wins. But also beside the competitions the Norwegian compatriots attracted attention in a very positive and charming way. Imaginative and characteristic costumes, a hearty party atmosphere and hospitable "Norwegian evenings" were part of the Nordic WSC.

Top-class, royal visit during the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships
Even the royal couples from Sweden and Norway did not miss the World Championships in Seefeld. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Silvia of Sweden visited the competitions right at the beginning of the World Championships. Shortly afterwards, Harald V and Sonja from Norway also travelled to Seefeld for the World Championships.
