The beauty of the Olympiaregion Seefeld - LIVE!Webcams
On the topic of sustainability, we are pleased to be able to provide several statements as part of our commitment to providing the best information to all the inhabitants and guests on our plateau. It is our objective not only to report, but to provide the supporting facts behind those reports.
The 2019 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships provide both a mission and an opportunity for the Olympiaregion Seefeld to present, document and consistently expand its vision of ecological sustainability before, during and after the event.
For generations now, traditions have formed a tangible part of life in the Olympiaregion Seefeld. This is a region where tourism goes hand in hand with a strong sense of responsibility, and where people and culture are held in high regard.
Extraordinary strengths in the field of Nordic sports, coupled with an Olympic history and other top sports events, serve to boost awareness of the region’s unique natural assets. A profound respect for nature and constant progress towards improved sustainability are inseparably linked: Resources are preserved and protected. Targeted investments are being made in research into, and conservation and protection of, local flora and fauna. Construction plans are meticulously checked with regard to environmental sustainability and energy is valued as a precious commodity.
Representatives from the local council, the tourism association and various interest groups are working together on this project with support from experts. The world ski championship event is, at the same time, a hub and a driving force for new ways forward into the future. A reduction in emissions and pollutants, eco-friendly transport systems driven by new energy sources, planned youth development projects, investments in snow-sport infrastructures and the development of new concepts for sustainable, fair sport are all benefits to be gained.
With this basis, optimum conditions, concept planning and implementation are guaranteed for the 2019 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships – an ingenious sustainability model for the protection of the unique living environment.
