After the first decisions in cross-country skiing at the Nordic World Championships in Tyrol, Mario Stecher, the Nordic Sports Director of the ÖSV and Hermann Weinbuch, national coach of the Nordic combined athletes in the DSV, were guests at the TirolBerg Studio. The German trainer sees the ÖSV combined athletes as favourites.
Mario Stecher sees the goal of the World Cup in being able to orient oneself with all teams in the direction of medals. "In ski jumping, we have once again succeeded in catching up with the world's best - hope rests here on Stefan Kraft. The Bergisel suits him. We are also very good at women's ski jumping," said Stecher. According to Stecher, there are also great chances for the Nordic combined. "In the Nordic combined it looks very good due to the two World Cup victories by Mario Seidl and Franz-Josef Rehrl. I would be more than satisfied with four medals in total - I think that's a realistic goal, but of course not a self runner-up".
Meanwhile, the expectations for the German combiners are subdued. "We weren't as strong in training as we had hoped," says Hermann Weinbuch. "Austria taught the whole competition to be afraid. Of course, we hope that we can achieve our top performances and keep up with them. In training Vinzenz Geiger and Fabian Rießle were the strongest - they have the best chances!
In the evening the Tirol Werbung, the Olympiaregion Seefeld, Innsbruck Tourismus and the ÖSV presented themselves together at a media evening. A total of 1,300 media representatives will be present at the event. 22 TV and radio stations will report - partly live - from the venue.
