The 2019 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships will be held in three competition venues – Seefeld Ski Arena, Möserertal cross-country stadium and the Bergisel Stadium ski jump in Innsbruck.
The main sports venue will be the Casino Arena, situated just 500 metres from Seefeld village centre. The arena will be the location of the disciplines of special ski jumping and Nordic combination, which will be held on the Toni Seelos HS109 Ski Jump. The large-hill ski jumping competitions will take place at the Bergisel HS 130 Ski Jump in Innsbruck. The Möserertal cross-country ski stadium, located just a stone’s thrown from the Casino Arena, forms the starting and finishing point of the cross-country ski races.
The opening and closing ceremonies will be held in the Casino Arena. Owing to its superb amenities, its large spectator capacity and the stunningly scenic backdrop, the Casino Arena is the perfect venue for world-class ceremonial festivities. The medal ceremonies will be held in a temporary stadium located right in front of Seefeld’s famous landmark, the ‘Seekirchl’ church. This breathtaking location and stunning stadium concept in the heart of the mountains is sure to remain etched in the memories of not only the athletes, but also the spectators, for a long time to come. This stadium might also be used for ‘side events’ and live, big-screen broadcasts during the championships.
The main state-of-the-art press centre will be located in Seefeld’s WM Hall just a few minutes away from the sports venues. In addition, subsidiary press centres will be created at the ski jumping stadium and cross-country ski stadium in Seefeld, and at the Bergisel ski jump in Innsbruck. Thirty commentary boxes will be located beside the ski jump in Seefeld, in the elevated area to the north-west of the stadium. The commentary boxes can be double-stacked, should more be required. The TV compound for the host broadcaster will be located directly in the Ski Arena in Seefeld. A container village has been planned to accommodate international broadcasting companies near the service container village. The spacious area offers enough space for an international TV compound.
