Living in the Olympiaregion Seefeld: How long have you already been living here or what brought you here? What makes the Olympiaregion so special for you / your family?
My name is Carola Marthe and I have lived in Seefeld all my life. My mother is from Berlin and my father from Dorfgastein and it was really the Berlin Wall and the 1964 Olympics that brought them to Seefeld. My father was here on a training programme and my mother for the construction of what is now the Hotel Charlotte.
Each of our partner-hotels for WSC-athletes in the area is unique: How would you describe the philosophy which brought you to this point and which distinguishes you from other hotels?
We aim for a hotel where everyone can feel at home, no matter what age, a hotel for all generations. The mix of different types and sizes of rooms and apartments as well as the wellness area and indoor swimming pool and apartments with hotel access is unique in Seefeld and I think the success of our concept shows that it works well!
Are there any personal memories of the last FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 1985 that you / your family could share with us? Did this event change or create new ambitions for Nordic ski sport?
My personal memories of the 85 World Championships are that my father’s trail maps were spread all over the apartment…
We were introduced to Nordic sports in the cradle – we were trained by our father (sometimes under duress!!) as he wanted to develop us into top athletes – it didn’t work!!!
What are you looking forward to while hosting the top WSC 2019 athletes in your hotel?
What am I looking forward to? Fair competition for the athletes and hopefully plenty of spectators. Of course, you are also looking for ‘your team’ to do well.
Do you have a vision or a personal wish for 2019?
I don’t really have a vision but my wish would be that the status of Seefeld improves and it is able to market itself better in summer as well as in winter.
