Living in the Olympiaregion Seefeld: How long have you already been living here or what brought you here? What makes the Olympiaregion so special for you / your family?
I don’t actually live in Seefeld but, as a Tyrolean, I have been connected to Seefeld since I was young. I have been working in Seefeld for 11 years, although with some breaks, and I am happy to see some noticeable improvements in the region. Of course, I came here because of the work but I will leave some day when I retire.
Each of our partner-hotels for WSC-athletes in the area is unique: How would you describe the philosophy which brought you to this point and which distinguishes you from other hotels?
Where we are today, is where we have been for the last 89 years – with the best position in Seefeld as the only lakeside hotel. Another of our strengths is our long-serving staff, not to forget the quality that we believe in and for which we are known.
Are there any personal memories of the last FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 1985 that you / your family could share with us? Did this event change or create new ambitions for Nordic ski sport?
At this time, I was working outside Austria and so the event passed me by without leaving any trace. However, my interest in Nordic sports has increased in recent years, especially as I love to go cross-country skiing, although the chances for that are too few.
What are you looking forward to while hosting the top WSC 2019 athletes in your hotel?
It is always exciting when so many successful people get together. When you see how hard they work and train for their goals, you can take away a lot from their example.
Do you have a vision or a personal wish for 2019?
Plenty of snow, fair and harmonious competition, plenty of spectators and hopefully the best Austrian will win.
