Living in the Olympiaregion Seefeld: How long have you already been living here or what brought you here? What makes the Olympiaregion so special for you / your family?
We love Scharnitz for its proximity to nature, its clear air and, in this day and age, for the peace and security it offers. We have the perfect recreational area on our doorstep and yet the modern urban hotspots such as Innsbruck, Munich, Salzburg, Bolzano and Lake Garda are not far away, so we can stay up-to-date with things. We are very lucky to live where other people come to holiday.
Each of our partner-hotels for WSC-athletes in the area is unique: How would you describe the philosophy which brought you to this point and which distinguishes you from other hotels? We like above all the direct contact with people and our heart beats for our family led hotel in 3rd generation.
We consider ourselves to be a traditional, value-for-money, Tyrolean village guest-house and we aim to stay ‘down-to-earth‘ and stress-free while still keeping up with what’s new and trying to improve our internal infrastructure. Personal contact with each and every individual guest is especially important for us as those experiences help enrichen our own lives.
Are there any personal memories of the last FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 1985 that you / your family could share with us? Did this event change or create new ambitions for Nordic ski sport?
We were both still at school then so we just have a few memories of a fun event. For example, we can still remember the mascots ‘Snowy‘ and the Tyrolean cross-country skiing farmer figure.
What are you looking forward to while hosting the top WSC 2019 athletes in your hotel?
It’s going to be really exciting getting to meet so many top international athletes. We love the ‘mulit-culti‘ life-style and so we are looking forward to getting an insight into the various different cultures.
Do you have a vision or a personal wish for 2019?
We hope of course that it is going to be a great event which can help promote this wonderful region. We truly believe in a ‘Hand in Hand‘ philisophy – with one another and for one another – so for us the World Championship motto is perfect. It symbolises a fellowship between different nations, as without all the different nations there would be no event!
