Living in the Olympiaregion Seefeld: How long have you already been living here or what brought you here? What makes the Olympiaregion so special for you / your family?
I was born here and grew up in the Olympiaregion. It was love that made my wife move to Seefeld.
This place is our home and therefore the most beautiful corner on earth! Besides that, Seefeld is such a wonderful place for “young and old” due to its special location in the heart-of the Tyrolean Alps, its unique landscape and scenery.
Each of our partner-hotels for WSC-athletes in the area is unique: How would you describe the philosophy which brought you to this point and which distinguishes you from other hotels?
Our philosophy is very simple: “Hospitality”!
In 1964, my parents started to build a little pension up step-by-step, carried out a lot of expansion work and (since) in 2003 the hotel reached its current size. Our guests have always been top priority from the beginning. This makes our service philosophy so friendly and individual.
Are there any personal memories of the last FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 1985 that you / your family could share with us? Did this event change or create new ambitions for Nordic ski sport?
I was 17 years old when the last FIS Nordic World Ski Championships took place in 1985. I was still at school but when I was off, I worked in our hotel where the Swedish National Team had their accommodation. I still remember the media hype around Gunde Svan and Thomas Wassberg. This was very special to me and I was impressed by the fact that the “whole world” was focussed on Seefeld. Now we host the Austrian team and many other nations when there are World Cup competitions or training camps here on the plateau.
What are you looking forward to while hosting the top WSC 2019 athletes in your hotel?
We are very proud to host the American Ski-Team and the Austrian Combination Team in 2019. We are looking forward to having a magnificent event with a fantastic atmosphere, lots of athletes and medal winners. We wish them all the best and will keep our fingers crossed!
Do you have a vision or a personal wish for 2019?
We look forward to a fair and exciting championships where Seefeld is a perfect host and which strengthens its reputation as a top winter hot spot.
