Living in the Olympiaregion Seefeld: How long have you already been living here or what brought you here? What makes the Olympiaregion so special for you / your family?
I was born in 1964, the year of the Olympics, and grew up here. These were the first Olympic Games where Seefeld was involved and the first images of Seefeld which were visible internationally from such a big event, especially since not everyone had a television at that time. I especially remember the beauty and the fact I was a part of it no matter what the weather.
Each of our partner-hotels for WSC-athletes in the area is unique: How would you describe the philosophy which brought you to this point and which distinguishes you from other hotels?
Patience and confidence, every decade brings a new form of tourism. In my next life I will still work in tourism!!!!!!!!!!!!
An exciting boisterous market, sometimes tiring and overwhelming, a think tank and a bewitching and emotional rollercoaster, this is all a treasure that we can market. It is a stage where we can all introduce ourselves. In my tourist backpack, there is a costume for every eventuality!
Are there any personal memories of the last FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 1985 that you / your family could share with us? Did this event change or create new ambitions for Nordic ski sport?
All Seefeld had Olympic fever! I still remember the Olympiade of 1976. I thought that it would be similar. It wasn’t because I was in the thick of it myself. We had colleagues from many countries, even from New Zealand. For them it was like a wonder that they were a part of it. I wasn’t a participant but my interest had changed completely. Which guests, what kind of cross-country runs? What it means to be a cross-country skiing area. How much work goes on in the background. Getting everything prepared when it snows. It was one of the most beautiful winters, you would have paid to use the trails.
What are you looking forward to while hosting the top WSC 2019 athletes in your hotel? What do you notice about the behaviour of groups?
Athletes have changed, they are far more self-confident.
Do you have a vision or a personal wish for 2019?
It will help Seefeld to stay on top of things in tourism and bring further success as a holiday destination. It will increase the self-confidence of our plateau, as our neighbouring council Leutasch is providing the majority of the cross-country area and they all too frequently get lost in the shuffle!!
