The beauty of the Olympiaregion Seefeld - LIVE!Webcams
Dear guests and residents of the plateau,
The “golden autumn” unfurled its glorious magic during the last few days. What could be better than to head out into the open air and let all our senses enjoy the warmth of the sun’s rays?
There is so much to see and to marvel at: even on our building sites – they are worth a look!
A quick report for you all:
You get the loveliest view of the course of the red cross-country trail from the Kirchwald – this is one of the skating trails. Fit for world champions, the wide trail is in the last stages of preparation with the laying of humus and the completion of hydrants and power connections. Cross-country enthusiasts can test the trails out this winter and give their own verdict on the runs during the pre-World Championships event in 2018.
The new volunteer centre has been started in the competition arena near the football pitch. The structural work is starting to take shape and will be ready and waiting for the many helping hands during the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships in 2019.
Moving around, we come to the Technical Centre – here heavy machinery and gravel is still to be seen. But 230 supports have already been dug into the ground to avoid any subsidence. A building with a pleasing structure will stand here shortly, one that is designed to be in harmony with the surrounding landscape. All the grooming machines and tools will be stored here. Sustainability is the watchword and all the buildings must meet the highest safety standards and regulations as well as not damaging the environment. No surprise then that the trails around the football pitch are also being worked on in the same way.
The WM-Halle has already had its topping-out ceremony and the interior is now being prepared. During the pre-World Championships event in 2018 it will be used and tested as the press centre.
The administration building at the foot of the Toni Seelos ski jumps – a guarantee for all future sporting events – is surrounded by cranes and grows by the minute.
On the Gschwandtkopf the new water reservoir has been full for three weeks: snowmaking will be no problem – my first tour filled me with pride!
Something new in all of this construction work: Seefeld’s symbol, the Seekirchl (“lake chapel”) is getting its lake back again. Near the Seekirchl the Rabach stream will be widened and a new lake-style landscape developed. A worthy place for any athletes who have just received their medals in the 2019 World Championships.
Plenty is going on and the construction workers have their hands full.
I’ll leave you now with wishes for plenty of sunshine for your days of exploration on our plateau!
