Within the space of just a few years, Nordic walking has grown to become an incredibly popular trend sport with an ever-increasing number of fans. The fast walking pace and the use of poles provide a highly effective yet very low-impact cardiovascular workout, while at the same time training the muscles of the arms, shoulders and back.
Boasting no fewer than 266 kilometres of sign-posted routes, the Olympiaregion Seefeld offers fantastic conditions for Nordic walking enthusiasts. The ‘Running & Nordic Walking Arena’ comprises 30 wide-ranging routes categorised into three levels of difficulty, suitable for leisurely walkers and professional athletes alike. With interval routes, skills trails, revitalisation sections and fell-running routes, the arena provides everything required for an all-round training programme combining coordination and stamina.
Sporting highlights in the region include the Mountain Run Seefeld and the Salomon Zugspitz Ultratrail. Another popular local event is the Salomon Ganghofertrail – a long-distance hike/run that leads through the region’s stunning alpine countryside. The Nordic walking panoramic map offers a clear overview of the vast network of running routes in the Olympiaregion Seefeld.
