Elevation profile

This somewhat more challenging mountain hike offers the reward of a spectacular panoramic view of the surrounding mountains (1,806 m). At the start of the tour, the trail takes us through a cool, shady mountain forest where you’re sure to hear several forest birds - a black or grey woodpecker, for example - and, with a bit of luck, you might even see them. Having reached the edge of the forest, the route opens out onto the colourful, blossoming Alpine meadows around the Solnalm mountain hut. We continue to the end of the valley, through a huge, dried-up streambed, up to the impressive Höllenkar col and, in winding hairpin bends, we conquer the final remaining metres to the saddle. From the sun-drenched terrace of the Alpine Club mountain hut (Solsteinhaus), you can let your gaze wander from Inn Valley to the Grosse Solstein mountain - and you might even spot a herd of chamois that are often seen roaming in this area.
