Well planned through Austria – vignette & tolls
A valid vignette is required on Austrian motorways and expressways. It is available either as a classic adhesive vignette, which can be purchased at petrol stations, automobile clubs and border crossings, or in advance as a digital vignette online. If you are travelling via the Brenner motorway or the Arlberg Tunnel, an additional route toll applies, which is charged independently of the vignette.
Well prepared for all weather by car
Anyone travelling to Tirol by car in winter should be prepared for snow and ice. Winter tyres or snow chains are required in the Tyrolean mountains; situational snow chain requirements may also apply.
Exit ban for through traffic: guests of the Region Seefeld are not affected
To help prevent congestion and detour traffic, Tirol has introduced an exit ban on certain days for pure through traffic, for example towards Italy or Germany. This applies from 1 May to 1 November 2026, as well as on 29 May and 2 October 2026, on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
The most important exception: destination, origin and local traffic are completely exempt from the ban. As you are spending your holiday in the region, you are therefore not affected. In the event of any checks, your booking confirmation simply serves as official proof.
