Winter long distance hiking

Winter magic at its best: the 9 most beautiful winter hiking trails around Seefeld

Where can you experience the winter magic from its most beautiful side? Without stress and above all without the demand for top sporting performance? On the winter hiking trails around Seefeld. Between deep snow-covered forests, impressive snow walls and rustic huts, you can hike through the alpine winter worlds and find yourself completely. We have the 9 most beautiful winter hiking trails for you!

Winter hiking: As beautiful as in summer – and yet very different

Anyone who likes to lace up their hiking boots in summer knows the magic of hiking. You move in the great outdoors, enjoy impressive views, spend time with your loved ones and as a reward you can stop for refreshments at an alpine pasture. You can have all that in winter, too – maybe even a little more beautiful, because nothing touches you more than the silence in a deep snow-covered forest, disturbed only by the crunch of your own shoes. The best thing about hiking in winter: you don't need endurance like cross-country skiing, technique like skiing, or a toboggan like ... well, tobogganing. You just need your hiking boots, warm clothes and – in the best case – a hot tea in your luggage. Which winter hiking trails should you not miss this winter? We have the best tips for you!

Winter circular hike in the Möserer valley

Cross-country skiers know the Möser Valley and its fantastic trails. If you prefer a more leisurely approach, take the winter hiking trail, one of the most beautiful around Seefeld. You start at the iconic Seekirchl and hike through the quiet, lonely forest. On the way back, you'll pass the Seefeld Sports Arena (tip: there are great views from the World Cup tower). Afterwards you can stop for a bite to eat at the popular Sportalm or at the Woods directly at the Seekirchl.

On one side the impressive north walls of the Hohe Munde, on the other the white glittering Wetterstein mountains, in the middle of it all a winter hiking trail covered in deep snow: the Gaistal is a magical place in winter. Anyone who has ever been there in summer knows what beauty lies hidden beneath the snow. But even in the cold season, it is a must-do excursion. The Gaistalalm is a warmly run hut full of tradition and invites you after a hike through the lonely valley to a hot chocolate and many other delicious dishes. The winter hiking trail W12 leads you amidst the sparkling mountain panorama to the Gaistalalm.
