The music pavilion in Kurpark Seefeld becomes the summer focal point for a colorful and entertaining concert programme, with the concerts of the local Bürgermusikkapelle Seefeld being particularly popular.
The origins of this music band are speculated to date back to the war years of the Tyrolean freedom struggles around 1809 when many so-called "Feldkapellen" or "Schützenkapellen" formed in the Tyrolean region. These bands, consisting of fife pipes, trumpets, horns, and drums, marched into war with the Schützenkompanien and often remained inactive in the subsequent years.
Between 1840 and 1850, the present-day music band likely reformed, as the first documented mention of the Seefelder Musikkapelle comes from that time.
Over 150 years have passed since its founding, and there is still joy and dedication in making music. Whether in smaller ensembles or in the "grand" music band formation, the musicians practice and play a repertoire ranging from traditional brass music to modern film music under the direction of conductor Tony Millner.
Admission to all concerts is free, and the musicians look forward to numerous visitors.
