In the warm season: Hike, Bike & Enjoy

Bern/Seefeld, April 2021 – The Region Seefeld in the Tyrolean Alps boasts an impressive natural backdrop between the Wetterstein Mountains and the Karwendel. The versatile year-round destination on the sunny high plateau at 1,200 m above sea level offers guests a relaxing all-round experience of activities, relaxation and enjoyment in the middle of unspoilt nature.

The region is a pure hiker's paradise and probably why it is so popular with Swiss guests. 650 kilometres of hiking, mountain and climbing routes for journeys of discovery in nature inspire visitors. When hiking in the Region Seefeld, a visit to one of the many alpine pastures, huts and mountain inns is simply part of the experience: Hardly any other region in Austria has as many huts to offer as Seefeld; and for every taste and budget. Legendary cuisine and breathtaking views included. Be it rustic inns, historic huts or idyllic mountain inns – what they all have in common is a refined, delicious gastronomy. On the alpine sun terraces you can really enjoy the dolce far niente in the fresh spring air.

Long-distance hiking on high-altitude trails
The Gaistal valley, which is still rather unknown, attracts visitors with a variety of traditional alpine pastures and huts, fine cuisine, impressive peaks and beautiful distant views. Depending on your physical condition, weather and mood, the high alpine pasture hike in the Gaistal can be shortened or extended. The best way is to start in Leutasch, climb through the picturesque Puittal valley to the Gehrenspitze and then stop for a break or overnight stay at the Wangalm or Wettersteinhütte. On the same day or the next day, the route goes via the Scharnitzsattel and the Südwandsteig to the Rotmoosalm. Here you can also spend the night in a rustic atmosphere or descend directly via the Steinerne Hüttl to the Tillfussalm and Gaistalalm. All the alpine pastures offer warm hospitality and the best culinary delights – not only the Kaiserschmarrn at the Wettersteinhütte and the homemade dumplings at the Rotmoosalm are famous far beyond the borders. If you want to relax your tired legs after such an intensive long-distance hike, there is a soothing Kneipp facility waiting for you right at the entrance to the Gaistal.

Great choice for bikers
In the Region Seefeld, bikers have a wide range of routes at their disposal. These routes vary not only in their degree of difficulty, but also in the length of the route. They are designed in such a way that they can be connected with each other and include the well-known places in the region. Meanwhile, for the 2021 summer season, a varied, family- and beginner-friendly new bike park with three different single trails, an uphill trail as well as a pump track will be created at Leutascher Katzenkopf. All certified single trails were realised by experienced trail teams. In intensive planning work and close coordination with authorities, communities and environmental representatives, a sustainable utilisation concept with a high degree of compatibility for forests, wildlife and the environment was created at the Katzenkopf Bike Park.

Hikes along the water
Cooling off in the water is especially fun after a hike. If you fancy lakes, rushing streams or adventure pools, the Region Seefeld is the place to be – it offers water places with that certain something. The Wildsee, for example, attracts sun-seekers and water rats with two lidos and a Kneipp facility. The Kneipp basins on the shore are freely accessible and invite you to linger on one of the benches and take in the nature all around you. Or the beautiful natural lakes Wildmoos and Lottensee: Every year the meadows on the plateau of Wildmoos fill with water in spring and form the two natural lakes. In recent years, the enchanting natural phenomenon could be admired again in full water splendour. A visit is especially recommended at the beginning of the bathing season, when the lakes are particularly large.

Quick and easy to reach
The Seefeld region includes the five villages of Seefeld, Leutasch, Mösern, Reith and Scharnitz. They are all located on the sunny high plateau and are ideal for varied holidays in the midst of nature. The Region Seefeld is also quick and easy to reach from Switzerland, whether by train or car. The mix of diverse activities, enjoyment and lifestyle offers relaxation for couples as well as for the whole family.
