The Olympic flame burned three times in Seefeld, and the Olympics became part of our name. But the region is far too diverse, far too unique, to be reduced to a winter sports resort. Even when the fire goes out, we continue to burn for what defines us. We are this region and everything it has to offer. We are spring, summer, autumn AND winter. We are the mountain and the valley. And somehow both at once. We are the high plateau. Welcome at 1,200 meters above sea level. Welcome to the Seefeld region – Tyrol's high plateau.

The "Olympia Region Seefeld" is now "Region Seefeld – Tyrol's High Plateau" at 1,200 meters. What remains unchanged is the extraordinarily high recreational value of Seefeld, Mösern, Leutasch, Reith, and Scharnitz – in all seasons!
When one thinks of Tyrol, two images come to mind: the Tyrolean mountains and peaks, e.g., the five major glaciers and the Arlberg. And the Tyrolean valleys, e.g., the Zillertal or the Ötztal. The bad news for the Seefeld region: it belongs neither to Tyrol's mountain worlds nor to the valley worlds. Now the good news: it belongs neither to Tyrol's mountain worlds nor to the valley worlds. The Seefeld region is actually situated in a unique intermediate world: on a high plateau surrounded by mountains. 1,200 meters above sea level. And 600 meters above the Olympic city of Innsbruck.
That's why the Olympics are history for Seefeld
Speaking of the Olympics: Seefeld's long-standing name "Olympia Region" is officially in the past. In 1964 and 1976, Innsbruck's Olympic flame also blazed up in Seefeld; the Olympics laid the foundation for the region's tourist development. But the locals are now wondering: Aren't we much more than "just" the Olympia Region? The region is far too versatile to be reduced to cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and the Olympics! Don't worry: even if the Olympic flame in the name goes out, the region will continue to shine for what defines it: Tyrol's unique high plateau!
About the many advantages of being Tirol's high plateau
Olympics only happen every four years - and it probably won't be back in Tirol anytime soon. Tirol's high plateau, on the other hand, will always be the five towns of Seefeld, Mösern, Leutasch, Reith, and Scharnitz. Independent of current issues and trends. And independent of the season. The high plateau itself is unique in Tirol. Hence the new name: "Region Seefeld - Tirol's High Plateau". Not just one, but the one (and only) unique region. This high plain at 1,200 meters above sea level is framed by two true mountain ranges: the Wetterstein with its Zugspitze in the north and the Karwendel in the east. Nonetheless, this plateau between the Inn Valley and high mountains is accessible from many directions. Unlike a narrow valley, a wide high plain always symbolizes open views and cosmopolitanism. Last but not least, these 300 square kilometers are much more than "just" Seefeld.
Whether Olympic region or Tirol's high plateau: Nature is the main thing!
What makes these five towns so attractive? Naturally, it's their nature! The high plateau represents one of the most diverse natural and cultural landscapes of the northern limestone Alps - in all seasons. Climbers and mountaineers appreciate the primary rock: very grippy Wetterstein limestone and main dolomite. The natural (and cultural) center of the high plateau is the vast Seefeld basin. To the northwest lies the Leutasch valley, and to the northeast (and directly on the border to Bavaria) lies the Scharnitz basin. Whether in summer for hiking, climbing, or biking, or in winter for cross-country skiing, winter hiking, or skiing: Tirol's high plateau has been the favorite recreational area of Innsbruck residents for decades, but also for the Bavarian neighbors from Mittenwald, Garmisch, and even Munich. No wonder, as the five towns of the high plateau south of the Zugspitze - beautifully framed by the Wetterstein mountains and the expansive Karwendel Nature Park - offer uniquely versatile experiences...
