In order to arouse the enthusiasm of not only the FIS committee members, but also the local population, for Seefeld’s candidature as host of the 2019 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, the region’s inhabitants and other interested parties were invited to an informative event in Seefeld’s Olympia Sport and Congress Centre.
In addition to the candidature concept, those who attended the event were also given information on the budgeting and marketing of the event, and on the whole application procedure. Furthermore, the plans were also presented for temporary spectator stands for the ski-jumping contests in the Seefeld Ski Arena, for the cross-country ski races in the Möserertal valley and for an award-ceremony stadium right in front of the cross-country stadium. Plans for the cross-country ski track routes were also unveiled to those attending.
“The 1985 World Championships were a resounding success and we would like to build on that success – which is why we would like to use the same logo as in 1985. We want to ‘pick up where we left off’ as it were – with a few adaptations and modernisations, of course,” explained Seefeld’s Mayor Werner Frießer. The deep interest shown by the locals, and by the trainers of Austria’s Nordic combination national team, Christoph Eugen and Falko Krismayr, reaffirmed the team’s faith in their concept and aspiration of bringing the 2019 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships to Seefeld.
