On the large Ahornboden you can experience real Tyrolean alpine culture at close quarters, because during the summer months hiking and biking guests will find comfortable overnight accommodation including alpine wellness in the idyllic Alpengasthof Eng and the Naturhotel DIE ENG. At the family-friendly farm there is a petting zoo and an outdoor playground for little adventurers. In the in-house farm shop "Kasalm" you can also taste and purchase fresh alpine cheese, smoked and wild sausages as well as farmhouse bread and bacon. Mountain enthusiasts have numerous possibilities from here to explore the Karwendel Nature Park by bike or mountain shoe, on family-friendly routes up to top-class summit tours. Mountain bikes and e-bikes can be rented by the guests of the Alpengasthof and the Naturhotel, partly for a fee.

LOCATION & STARTING POINT

The Alpengasthof Eng and the Naturhotel Die ENG are located in the heart of the Karwendel Mountains, on the Großer Ahornboden. Parking spaces are available for guests directly at the hotel, opposite is certainly the public car park P10. There are public transport connections with the mountaineer's bus to Lenggries/Bad Tölz or with the public bus Eng Alm, to Wallgau/Krün/Mittenwald.

OVERNIGHT STAY

During the summer months, the Naturhotel DIE ENG and the Alpengasthof Eng offer unique overnight accommodation in the Tyrolean mountains. A total of 80 beds are available in 43 cosy Tyrolean rooms or in the traditional bed camp. The adjacent Alm-Chalet also offers two exclusive Almsuites for more discerning guests. Relaxation is provided in the recreation oasis with bio-sauna, steam grotto and whirlpool tub. A seminar room for up to 120 people is available for groups.

SUMMER TOURS

  • Binsalm. Easy hike from Alpengasthof Eng along the Panoramaweg to the Binsalm at 1,502 metres above sea level. On the way, attentive hikers can sometimes observe wild animals, so binoculars are definitely advisable for detailed field studies. If you want to go even further up, you can hike from the Binsalm via the Lamsenjoch to the Lamsenjochhütte.

 

  • Enger Grund. Easy hike from car park P10, opposite the Alpengasthof Eng along the theme trail to the Engalm. From there continue along the Enger-Grund stream to the end of the valley, the so-called Enger Grund. This easy hike is particularly suitable for families with children.

 

  • Falkenhütte. Fantastic hike from the Engalm over the Hohljoch and on over a narrow path, below the Lalidererwände, to the Falkenhütte. Grandiose views are guaranteed here.
