Embedded in the southern flank of the Wetterstein Mountains, the rustic Steinerne Hüttl lives up to its name at an elevation of 1,925 meters: The alpine farm built from massive rock blocks (dairy cows) offers guests a hearty snack and breathtaking views from the cozy sun terrace during the summer months (mid-June to mid-September). Not far from the alpine hut, one can also climb the Zugspitze via the "Gatterl," which stands at 2,967 meters. Particularly popular are bike & hike tours, where the bike stops at the Tillfussalm and from there, one hikes up a trail to the hut. Keep your eyes open at the alpine farm; native marmots can often be spotted here.

STARTING POINT
The starting point to the alpine hut is directly at the paid Salzbach parking lot in the Leutasch Gaistal and can also be easily reached by public regional transport from Seefeld and Leutasch (stop Gaistal/Salzbach). Alternatively, the hut can be reached from Ehrwald, gondola included if desired.
