Embedded in the southern flank of the Wetterstein Mountains, the rustic Steinernes Hüttl lives up to its name at an altitude of 1,925 meters: The alpine hut built from massive rock blocks (dairy cows) offers guests a hearty snack and breathtaking views from the cozy sun terrace during the summer months (mid-June to mid-September). Not far from the hut, one can also ascend the Zugspitze via the "Gatterl," standing at 2,967 meters. Bike & Hike Tours are particularly popular, where the bike remains at the Tillfussalm, and one then hikes on a trail to the hut. Keep your eyes open at the alpine pasture, as local marmots can often be spotted here.

If the hut keeper is with the herd of cows, you can help yourself to drinks from the well. If he is present, snacks are also available.

STARTING POINT
The starting point for the alpine hut is located directly at the paid Salzbach parking lot in the Leutascher Gaistal and is easily accessible via public regional transport from Seefeld and Leutasch (bus stop Gaistal/Salzbach). Alternatively, the hut can also be reached from Ehrwald, with the cable car included upon request.
