Lots of tradition at the end of carnival in Scharnitz!

The annual burning of the witches' broom not only ends the carnival, but also the winter and all evil is to be swept out of the village. Only male "witches" are allowed to take part.

In addition, the "Naz" - who symbolises the carnival in persona - is buried again and thus the carnival is over. The special thing about this ceremony is that the "Naz" is not - as in many other places - a doll, but a living person.
