Thomas Schütte "Haus T"

KiS – Art in Seefeld presents from June 19 to September 27, 2026 woodcuts and an architectural model as well as a video about the realization of "Holiday House T." by Thomas Schütte. The exhibition connects the series of houses with large-format woodcuts, in which doors, windows, stairs, or facades are reduced to clear, strong image forms.

"Simply sitting there and looking at the lake is also a purpose. Just quietly looking at a tree is a necessity. You can't just always look at images that glare at you or make you nervous."

House T
Since the 1980s, houses, rooms, and architectural structures have been recurring themes for Thomas Schütte. However, his houses are not intended as designs for real architecture but move between model, sculpture, and imaginary space. Some appear open and inviting, while others seem more closed or almost provisional.
The works take up familiar architectural forms but elude a clear function. This results in models that appear both concrete and enigmatic. Under the title "Holiday House T." one of the models has been realized as a walk-in sculpture in Mösern and can be visited as part of the exhibition.
