Great Wall & Hong Kong
This wall is by no means in China, but rather in Leutasch near Seefeld in Tyrol. Here you will find optimal conditions on 176 routes in 11 sectors. Those who feel comfortable with the 7th difficulty level and above can really push themselves on the grippy limestone. The route “Puls 2000” in the sector “Dodlwand” is probably the most famous route. The steep climbing over holes, underclings, and edges requires strength and endurance. Those who make it to the very top will be rewarded with an excellent view of the Great Wall – and without having to travel to the far east.
The Great Wall is about 20 minutes away from the Puitbach/Ahrn parking lot (P13) or the bus stop. Please exclusively use the newly created Puitbach/Ahrn parking lot (P13) and the marked approach path (orange)!

Nature and landscape experience, route layout, rock quality, physical and mental demands on climbers. Passionate climbers looking for particularly beautiful projects in difficulty levels 6 and 7 can find high-quality photos, videos, topos, and further details about the five "Great Lines" at www.tirol.at/greatlines.
With thousands of routes in the "Climbers Paradise" of Tyrol, selecting five "Great Lines" is no easy task. Nonetheless, a panel of experts led by Barbara Bacher, Barbara Zangerl, Kilian Fischhuber, Markus Schwaiger, Martina Harnisch, and Michael Meisl has taken on this challenge and made a selection. The experts chose the climbing routes based on the nature and landscape experience, route layout, rock quality, as well as the physical and mental demands on climbers.
The "Great Lines" Jury
- Barbara Bacher, climbing professional from Längenfeld in Ötztal and part of the Austria Climbing Team.
- Barbara Zangerl, climbing professional from Strengen am Arlberg. She was the first woman to climb the "Alpen Trilogie", including "Des Kaisers neue Kleider" at the Wilden Kaiser.
- Kilian Fischhuber, former climbing professional living in Innsbruck. European champion and two-time vice world champion in bouldering, and the first male climber to be a five-time winner in the overall ranking of the Boulder World Cup.
- Markus Schwaiger, works at the Austrian Alpine Club in Innsbruck in the mountaineering department. His area of responsibility: sports climbing.
- Martina Harnisch, physicist and former competitive climber, living in Innsbruck. An 8a+ "on sight" is not uncommon for her.
- Michael Meisl, passionate climber and professional photographer, living in Kramsach, Tyrol. Publisher of the comprehensive climbing guide "Tirol – Sportclimbing in North Tyrol."
