Alpine pastures & huts
Nestled in the southern slope of the Wetterstein Mountains, the rustic Steinerne Hüttl lives up to its name at an altitude of 1,925 meters: The alpine farm (dairy cows) built from massive rock blocks offers guests a hearty snack and breathtaking views from the cozy sun terrace during the summer months (July to September). Near the alpine hut, one can also ascend the Zugspitze via the “Gatterl”, the highest mountain in Germany at 2,967 meters. The Steinerne Hüttl is also an ideal base camp for extensive hikes through the Wetterstein Mountains. Particularly popular are Bike & Hike Tours, where the bike is left at the Tillfussalm and one hikes from there along a path to the hut. Keep your eyes open at the alpine farm, as you may spot local marmots here.
