1 Ticket, 2 Vacations: Seefeld and Wildschönau reward sustainability

Anyone who spends at least a three-day vacation this summer in the Seefeld region or Wildschönau and travels there by public transport has a chance to win three days of winter vacation in a partner region. This is part of a nationwide campaign involving six destinations in Tyrol, Salzburg, and Styria that have been awarded the Austrian Environmental Seal.

Individual travel causes the largest CO2 emissions in tourism. Up to 80% of the CO2 footprint of the entire vacation is attributed to arrival and departure. When public transport, such as buses or trains, is chosen, this share noticeably decreases. That’s why the Tyrolean regions of Wildschönau and Seefeld, which hold the Austrian Environmental Seal, have long offered incentives to make public transport as appealing as possible for their guests. Whether it's luggage service, combined ticket promotions, pick-up and transport services, or smooth public transport on-site – the regions and their businesses pull out all the stops.

Now, with four additional regions in Salzburg and Styria, there is a new and enticing offer. Anyone spending at least a three-day summer vacation in one of the participating regions, traveling by public transport, and uploading the accommodation bill and their ticket to the website 1 TICKET → 2 URLAUBE by September 7th has a chance to win three days of winter vacation. This will take place in one of the five other partner regions, which, in addition to Seefeld and Wildschönau, include Ausseerland, Saalfelden Leogang, Wagrain-Kleinarl, and Zell am See-Kaprun.

"We see a great opportunity in this initiative to make the topic of travel and environmentally conscious behavior during vacations even more visible," says Michael Mairhofer, managing director of Wildschönau Tourism. "After our campaign 'Free Ride to Vacation Bliss' in summer 2023, where guests arriving by public transport could get their tickets reimbursed on-site in cash, this campaign sets a new focus," says Elias Walser, managing director of the TVB on Tyrol's high plateau. "It's still not a given to travel publicly for vacations. However, with such incentives, we contribute to raising awareness and position ourselves as an environmentally conscious, sustainable tourism destination."
