Astoria Resort Seefeld becomes Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol

Vienna / Seefeld, September 1, 2022. From currently two, there will be three Sacher Hotels in Austria starting mid-September: the Astoria Resort Seefeld will officially change its name to Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol on September 15. With this step, the Sacher Group is entering the resort hotel industry and the family business aims to set standards in this category as well.

The Astoria Resort Seefeld, in family ownership since 1950 and under the leadership of Elisabeth Gürtler since 2015, is located on the Seefeld plateau at 1,200 m, embedded in a park of around 20,000 m². The generously designed, family-run Five-Star Superior Resort has been extensively expanded, remodeled, and refined over the past few years with great attention to detail, entrepreneurial foresight, and according to the highest quality standards. The award-winning resort features a wellness area of approximately 4,700 m², a gourmet restaurant, and 81 suites and rooms in elegant alpine style. “The Astoria, which my parents acquired in 1950, is inseparably connected with my family; naturally, so are the Sacher Hotels that I have had the pleasure of shaping for more than 25 years. The greatest recognition is that we, as a family, have made the decision to develop the Astoria into the Alpin Resort Sacher,” says Elisabeth Gürtler. The Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol will continue to be managed by this hotelier along with General Manager Anton Gustav Birnbaum and her team.

Sacher: Continuous, conscious development
Under the Sacher brand, outstanding services, products, and business areas are continuously and consciously developed. All Sacher Hotels, cafés, and the Original Sacher Cake manufactory are managed by the owner families Gürtler and Winkler and designed for the future. New Business Area: Resort Hospitality
In the Sacher Hotels in Vienna and Salzburg, traditional Austrian luxury has been experienced and celebrated since 1832. This approach, which means preserving what is valuable while at the same time interpreting the spirit of the times, will now continue and be lived at the Alpin Resort Sacher. The Sacher Hotels Vienna and Salzburg are the only family-run Five-Star Superior city hotels in Austria. “With the Alpin Resort Sacher, we are expanding our business area and taking a conscious step towards resort hospitality, which means new opportunities for us. From Astoria Resort Seefeld to Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol
Hilde and Fritz Mauthner, the parents of Elisabeth Gürtler, acquired the Astoria in Seefeld (then still Pension Britannia) in 1950 and quickly expanded it to become one of the most fashionable hotels – including the first indoor swimming pool in Tyrol – in the Alps. Elisabeth Gürtler spent much of her youth at the Astoria and learned and experienced excellent hospitality here. The Sacher companies have been managed since 2015 by owners Alexandra Winkler and Georg Gürtler and their families. Elisabeth Gürtler returned to the place that shaped her understanding of tourism and to which she holds a special affection: the Astoria Seefeld, which has now reached the standard that makes it the Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol after renovations, expansions, and refinements. "I am looking forward to welcoming guests at the highest Sacher, sharing the nature that excites me and gives me strength, and pampering them with my team and the unmistakable Sacher excellence," says Elisabeth Gürtler.

From September 15, guests will check in at the Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld-Tirol. The first highlight under the new name is planned for September 16 to 18, when the Alpin Resort Sacher invites to "Bergauf with Cultour and Culinarik."
