Finally back to real competitions: On March 5th and 6th, 2022, the expansive Leutasch Valley will once again transform into a competition arena for highly motivated cross-country skiers at Austria's most popular people's race! Appropriately, this year's 51st Ganghoferlauf will kick off with the motto "Finally together again".

Since its inception, the Ganghoferlauf in Leutasch has a history of over 50 successful events. An impressive success story that is also significantly marked by the sustained quality of Austria's most popular and oldest folk cross-country skiing race.

After last year's race had to be canceled for the first time in its history due to the pandemic, we are even more excited this year to finally go to the start TOGETHER AGAIN! Thus, the legendary Ganghoferlauf was not only the last race before the first lockdown but is also the first folk race held in Austria since the beginning of the pandemic. A very special event for all participants, organizers, and many volunteers. We can hardly wait to finally celebrate real sporting moments together again!

CLASSIC, SKATING & COMBINED
The 16-kilometer Leutasch Valley is known far beyond the national borders for its incredibly beautiful and varied trails – a true cross-country skiing paradise.

The starting shot for the Ganghoferlauf will be fired on Saturday with the classic discipline for men and women in the 25 km and 50 km events. An additional highlight will also be the Expo area at the finish area near the football field in Leutasch, where interested parties can inform themselves about the latest high-tech materials from well-known manufacturers and take advantage of the waxing service.

On Sunday, the skating discipline in the 20 km and 42 km events will start. Those looking for a real challenge can participate in the Ganghoferlauf Combined event, contesting both the classic and skating long distances and competing in the combined classification.

The 51st Ganghoferlauf 2022 will again be held as an official Euroloppet race and will also be part of both long-distance routes in the Visma Ski Classics Challengers racing series.

All participants can once again look forward to numerous goodies, such as a functional starter gift and free entry to the ErlebnisWelt Alpenbad Leutasch (only on the competition weekend). This year, a large celebration after the race will be omitted. The flower ceremony will therefore take place directly at the finish area, where every participant will also receive a winner's medal. Additionally, all starters will receive a meal voucher, which can be redeemed in one of the many excellent restaurants in the region – for great success celebrations in a small circle of friends.

MINI & SPECIAL GANGHOFERLAUF
All young athletes aged between 3 and 17 will also have the chance to celebrate their first successes at Austria’s most spectacular cross-country skiing weekend again and will start in the Mini-Ganghoferlauf on Saturday. On Saturday from 1:00 PM, the Special-Ganghoferlauf will also be held along with the small-format folk race, showcasing impressive athletic moments over distances of 300 or 1000 meters.

LEUTASCH IN THE SIGN OF THE LEGEND
For the 51st time, the popular Ganghoferlauf in Leutasch will be organized and held with the active support of around 15 local Leutasch clubs. For one weekend, the entire Leutasch Valley will be focused on the big race, which is traditionally organized together with the Ski Club Leutasch and the Seefeld Tourism Association. Only with the help of countless volunteers does the legendary Ganghoferlauf once again mark an absolute highlight in the winter event calendar.
