Leutasch celebrates its patron saint.

It is a day full of tradition, custom, and community. A day when the entire village comes together and welcomes visitors from near and far. The holiday in honor of the patron saint of Leutasch is one of the most traditional on the plateau and is once again a highlight in the festival calendar every year.

The church patronage in honor of Saint Magdalena consists of three parts. First, a festive mass is celebrated in the parish church of Oberleutasch, before proceeding to the ceremonial procession towards Weidach. Here, the beautiful costumes and traditional garments are especially highlighted. Upon arrival at the newly designed pavilion square, the festival transitions to part 3 and thus to the cozy part.

That the Magdalena Church Day is not only a feast for the eyes becomes clear at the latest here. What begins with homemade, farm specialties ends with exciting dance music and a great entertainment program for the children. The local clubs ensure excellent catering, the music band Leutasch accompanies throughout the afternoon, and the party band Sonnwend appropriately kicks off the evening.

Why do the people of Leutasch celebrate this day? The historical origin dates back to 1190, when the "Magdalena Church" was completed. In 1820, the church as we know it today was rebuilt. According to tradition, the patronage has since been celebrated on July 22, regardless of the day of the week. A newspaper report from 1928 describes the festival proceedings very similarly to today: with cannon shots, festive mass, procession, and subsequent celebration.

2:00 PM: Holy Mass in the parish church of Oberleutasch with procession (will be canceled in case of bad weather)

3:30 PM: Opening march at the pavilion square in Weidach

4:00 PM: Start of the festival with a concert by the Leutasch music band

6:30 PM: Musical entertainment with the party band "Sonnwend"

Local associations will provide food and drink. The children's program includes various games, entertainment as well as a climbing tower, bouncy castle, and face painting corner.
