A stream flowing through a forest with sunlight peeking through the trees.

Learn how the Karwendel Nature Park serves as a pioneering plateau for biodiversity, sustainability, and innovative environmental projects in the Seefeld region.

Strengths

  • Pioneering from the very beginning – e.g. with the Wöffi campaign – hiking with public transport
  • Visionary leadership and a long-established team with their own responsibilities
  • Experts in SDG 15 – nature conservation and diversity -> a great benefit for the region to have them as partners
  • Awareness building and storytelling

Sustainable Development Steps

  • Training of climate educators -> this results in good packages for educational projects
  • Collaboration with regional schools -> certified nature park schools with thematic focuses in lessons, project days, and weeks
  • Awareness raising for sustainable agriculture -> signage, flyers, and guided tours to, among others, the Leutascher Valley meadows
  • Active communication of behavioral rules as well as tour management on social media by a digital ranger
  • Volunteer projects for the preservation of protected areas and the cultural landscape of the alpine region in the Karwendel
  • VVT job ticket for all employees

Goals

  • Transition to e-bikes and e-vehicles in the nature park
  • General CO2 reduction
  • Create a ripple effect -> Sustainability for everyone, not just for an elite bubble
  • Improved visitor management even before the nature park visit
