
World Champion atmosphere with over 200,000 visitors
FIS Nordic Ski World Championships February 19 – March 3, 2019 in Seefeld
12 days, 22 medal decisions, and 204,400 cheering visitors – the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships have gone down in the sports history of the Seefeld region. Successfully. Radiant picturesque weather provided cheerful atmospheres on nearly all competition days for visitors from all over the world, and the athletes were also thrilled with the conditions on site.
It was the calm before the storm, when on the first day of the World Championships – February 19 – the athletes prepared for the upcoming days, 1,300 media representatives and journalists set up their quarters in the press center, and the restaurateurs of the Nordic Mile busily stocked their stands. And then it was finally time: On February 20, the first qualifications and training sessions took place in the World Championship arena, and visitors were treated to a colorful and sparkling opening ceremony with a world-champion character in the evening!
From that day forward, many things changed in the host location Seefeld – nations came together, fans from various countries cheered together, athletes motivated each other, and hundreds of international volunteers significantly contributed to the success of the World Championships. True to the motto "Hand in Hand", a special atmosphere reigned in the World Championship arena that revived top-level sports in the Seefeld region.
