That was the FIS Nordic Ski World Championship 2019

12 days, 22 medal events, and 204,400 cheering visitors – the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships have gone down in the sports history of the Seefeld region. Successfully. Bright picture-book weather ensured a lively atmosphere among visitors from all over the world on almost all competition days, and the athletes were also thrilled with the conditions on-site.

It was the calm before the storm as, on the first day of the World Championships – February 19 – the athletes prepared for the upcoming days, 1,300 media representatives and journalists set up their quarters in the press center, and the restaurateurs of the Nordic Mile busily stocked their stands. And then it was finally time: On February 20, the first qualifications and training sessions took place in the World Championship arena, and in the evening, visitors were treated to a colorful and sparkling opening ceremony with a world champion flair! From that day on, much changed in the host city Seefeld – nations came together, fans from various countries cheered together, athletes motivated each other, and hundreds of international volunteers played a crucial role in the success of the World Championships. Following the motto "Hand in Hand", there was a special atmosphere in the World Championship arena that revitalized top-level sports in the Seefeld region.

A winning nation with charm: Norway
Exciting competitions were delivered in the team sprint, Nordic combined, mass start, and skiathlon, which Norwegian athletes particularly excelled in, winning a total of 13 gold medals. Following them were Germany with six and Sweden with two gold medals. Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Therese Johaug, and Jarl Magnus Riiber visibly enjoyed their time on the winner's podium after numerous medal victories. However, even away from the competitions, the Norwegian compatriots drew attention to themselves in a highly positive and charming manner. Creative and characteristic costumes, a warm celebratory atmosphere, and hospitable "Norwegian Nights" became standard during the Nordic Ski World Championships.

High-profile, royal visits during the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships
The World Championships in Seefeld even caught the attention of the royal couples from Sweden and Norway. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Silvia of Sweden made an early visit to get a glimpse of the upcoming competitions. Shortly thereafter, Harald V and Sonja of Norway arrived in the World Championship host city of Seefeld.
