Arrival by car to the Seefeld region
The Seefeld region on Tyrol's high plateau is located 27 km from Innsbruck, 126 km from Munich, and 275 km from Zurich. The drive from Munich is toll-free via Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald. Please note: A vignette is required on Austrian motorways and expressways.

Well planned through Austria – Vignette & Toll
On Austrian motorways and expressways, a valid vignette is mandatory. This is available either as a classic adhesive vignette (available at gas stations, automobile clubs, and border crossings) or as a digital vignette online in advance. When arriving via the Brenner Motorway or the Arlberg Tunnel, an additional route toll applies, which is independent of the vignette.
Weatherproof on the road with the car
Those visiting Tirol in winter by car should expect snow and ice. Winter tires or snow chains are required in the Tyrolean mountains; situational requirements for snow chains are possible.
Departure ban for through traffic: Guests of the Seefeld region are not affected
To protect against congestion and diversion traffic, a departure ban for pure through traffic (e.g. towards Italy or Germany) applies in Tyrol on certain days. This applies from May 1 to November 1, 2026, as well as additionally on May 29 and October 2, 2026, on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from 07:00 to 19:00.
The most important exception: Destination, origin, and local traffic are completely exempt from the ban. Since you are spending your vacation in the region, you are thus not affected. In the event of any checks, your booking confirmation serves as official proof.
