The toboggan run on the Hoher Sattel is a real challenge even for experienced sledders: the two and a half kilometers to the highest point of the toboggan run cover a sporty 385 meters in altitude on the way and then also lead back down to the valley with a correspondingly rapid descent.
The ascent starts directly from the parking lot in Ahrn eastward and then continues uphill through the Satteltal valley. After about an hour of hiking (on the way pay particular attention to oncoming tobogganists/hikers) - you reach the highhest point of the tour at 1,495 meters. There are no refreshment stops, but in the winter silence you can enjoy a cup of homemade mulled wine/tea from a thermos flask.

The ascent is on the same path as the descent - therefore watch out for oncoming traffic in both directions! Suitable shoes and weatherproof clothing are required, a helmet is highly recommended. The demands and condiditon of the toboggan run are best assesed by yourself uphill - if you are unsure, be sureto turn back! The toboggan run is not technically secured and is not prepared or checked daily.
Attention: Even for experienced tobogganists, this toboggan run is a real challange. Therefore we recommend the descent only for experts. Drive carefully and adapted to the conditions. Especially braking and conering technique must me professional on the steep sections. Family tours, beginners and children should use family friendly routes such as the toboggan run on the Katzenkopf or the Hämmermoosalm in the Leutascher Gaistal valley. Use at your own risk.
