Seefeld is the training home of many top athletes. Even elite biathletes, such as the German Olympic champions Magdalena Neuner and Laura Dahlmeier, have always enjoyed coming to us. Recently, the current German shooting star, Selina Grotian from Mittenwald, recorded footage for an online TV show in the Seefeld Sports Arena. Our offer for curious amateur athletes also attracts media interest – in May, the renowned Swiss travel journalist Christoph Amman will come to Tyrol's high plateau.

Tyrol's high plateau is the training home of many top biathletes: Over the past 20 years, German top stars Magdalena Neuner and Laura Dahlmeier have refined their skills in the region for their Olympic victories. Today, among others, the Austrian elite athlete Anna Gandler and Germany's shooting star Selina Grotian from the neighboring Mittenwald are utilizing the biathlon and roller ski facility at the Seefeld Sports Arena. Grotian celebrated her first World Cup individual victory as the youngest athlete in December 2024. In March 2025, she shot a fun 20-minute video with sport tester Tobias Budde from Magenta TV about his first attempts in biathlon.

As a sport, the combination of cross-country skiing and shooting is primarily suited for professionals. However, the biathlon community is very large and diverse, as the TV ratings for the competitions repeatedly prove. There is also great interest in our regional experience biathlon trial shooting in the Seefeld Sports Arena, which will be bookable again from May 20, 2025. Furthermore, the Cross Country Academy Seefeld offers introductory courses in this exciting sport. In winter, thanks to the Leutasch Ski School, both offerings are also available at the biathlon facility in Leutasch.

The international press is also interested in the biathlon offering on Tyrol's high plateau. In May, for example, Christoph Amann from the Swiss SonntagsZeitung announced his attendance specifically for this. After the first IBU Biathlon World Championships in Switzerland last February, there has been a real hype among the Swiss about this sport. Amann, who is an award-winning journalist and one of the most renowned travel journalists in the German-speaking world, is particularly interested in our offerings for amateur athletes. The training facility in Seefeld with its stars is also a topic of discussion. Of course, the Seefeld region cannot compete with the Tyrolean biathlon centers Hochfilzen and Obertillach. However, due to its proximity to the Bavarian Isar Valley, where many talents are trained to become winners thanks to the successful coach Bernhard Kröll, Seefeld definitely has a fixed place in the biathlon success story.
