Colorful fun

With meadow flowers, brew & stocking: We color cheerful Easter eggs!

Red, green, blue, and colorful - at Easter, people give eggs in all colors. Why? Because not all hens lay colorful eggs by nature. The wandering hens at Siggis Sauhaufen in Seefeld do already - but unfortunately still without great patterns and loving decorations! For the most beautiful free-range organic Easter eggs, we simply give the Easter Bunny a little helping hand! How to color your eggs with natural dyes, how to easily get real meadow flowers onto the shell, and how to perfectly showcase your creations afterwards, we’ll tell you about here on the blog.

1. STEP

Collect materials such as flowers, leaves, bushes, etc. in the forest. These materials provide an extraordinary, regional, and unique look for your Easter eggs!

STEP 2

Boil eggs – depending on size – for 8-10 minutes "hard". By the way: Really good "Goggelen" (eggs) can be found in Leutasch at Joslhof or in the many farm shops on the high plateau.

STEP 3

Natural colors boil for 20 minutes over medium heat. We used red cabbage, red onion, spinach, and turmeric. Here you can find a nice overview of the different "color sources".

4. STEP

5. STEP

Place the eggs in the dye bath (preferably while still warm, so they absorb the color better). The duration in the bath can be chosen individually. We recommend leaving the eggs in the bath overnight. This way, the eggs will absorb the most color and will shine even more in the end.

6. STEP

Take the eggs out of the broth and place them on kitchen paper to dry. Alternatively, you can "coat" the eggs with a little butter or coconut fat, which will give them a nice shine.

Done! Nothing stands in the way of a successful Easter celebration now! It's time to start hiding and egg tapping!
