Leutasch 3-Day Hut Hiking Tour for Families
Hut Experience
Special mountain experiences such as multi-day tours are also at the top of the wish list for families with younger children. Our 3-day hut hiking tour for families fills a real gap in the market.
Hiking from hut to hut for several days away from everyday life is truly something special. Many parents already wish to inspire their children for this experience – which is immensely decelerating in later years – as early as possible. However, most multi-day hikes are unsuitable for younger children due to stages lasting five to six hours and high alpine huts. Others opt for boring valley paths or hotels in the village, which shortchange excitement and nature experience.
Our Leutascher 3-day hut hike for families is completely different: Featuring varied but safe mountain paths in the idyllic Gaistal, a maximum stage length of five kilometers or three hours of hiking time, and huts that boast spacious meadows or playgrounds. The idea for this family hike originated with our PR consultant for Germany, Tassilo Pritzl, who was looking for such a hike for his children Lea (6) and Linus (3). They, of course accompanied by their parents, were the first test kids.
Their conclusion: Perfect! There was no whining "When will we finally be there?", and the combination of gentle alpine and rugged, barren mountain scenery captivated not only the parents. Encounters with alpine and wild animals as well as the sea of stars in the evening delighted the children just as much as the cozy hut lodgings, the playgrounds, the streams, and the delicious hut food. The offering definitely meets the needs of both young and old.
This is the way:
The hike starts at the Stupfer parking lot in Gaistal, leads via the Wurzelsteig to the first overnight stop at the Wettersteinhütte or Wangalm. From there, it continues along the Südwandsteig, past climbing rocks and wildlife, to the second hut night at the Rotmoosalm, and finally on the third day back to the starting point via the path and the Hämmermoosalm.

PR expert and mountain enthusiast Tassilo Pritzl
Pritzl is originally from Munich but has always felt at home in the Wetterstein and Karwendel mountains. His parents come from Garmisch-Partenkirchen and took him to the mountains as a child, both on foot and by bike. After studying sports and training in journalism at the Münchner Merkur, he moved into PR consulting for tourism regions. His love for Tirol's high plateau has led him to manage the Seefeld region in the German market for several years, often testing or even co-developing new products and ideas on site, such as the Leutascher 3-day hut hike for families. His wife Elisabeth and his children Lea and Linus are happy to join him, “playing” models for photographs or learning to ski at Geigenbühel and on the Rosshütte in the process.
