ACTIVELY & SMART IMPLEMENT

Implementing the strategy smartly

The new strategy with its 6+2 success pattern was presented at the general assembly in December. Now it's about concretely implementing the elements we can influence and bringing them to life.

The new regional strategy is divided into two main, golden success patterns and six centrally arranged, blue success patterns. The golden hexagons represent our goal and our brand core, while the blue hexagons represent our areas of action.

Our long-term goal is to become THE high plateau of the Alps – so that every guest automatically associates a high plateau with the Seefeld region. We aim to achieve this through our brand core – THE atmosphere. This is influenced by both the unique natural features of our homeland and the actions of all of us.

We find our areas of action in the six success patterns. Three of them – the flat-alpine natural beauty, the numerous hours of sunshine, and the location of Tyrol's high plateau, which ensures its convenient accessibility – are natural gifts (scientifically destination goods) that we cannot influence but can definitely use to our advantage.

The flat-alpine natural beauty of Tyrol's high plateau allows our guests to always be right in the mountains. There is no need to climb many vertical meters or endure long rides on the cable car. With us, everyone is always right in the mountain world, whether at breakfast on the hotel terrace or during a leisurely stroll through the village.

The term 360 Degree Sun Plateau is not just a nice marketing slogan, but truly reflects the program on Austria's largest high plateau. Even in winter, we are already spoiled by the sun in the mornings. Fog and smog are also extremely rarely a topic. On the contrary, here you literally walk above the clouds.

Easy and convenient accessibility is a major topic in times of traffic congestion, road damage, and strikes. Tyrol's high plateau benefits from being optimally connected by bus and train, as well as having access roads where environmental hazards (such as mudslides) are generally not an issue. Additionally, local public transportation runs smoothly and enables a vacation with stress-free, short distances.

The other three – our role as a world-class cross-country skiing region and a center for enjoyable hiking, as well as the vibrancy of the pedestrian zone in Seefeld as an attractor for the entire region – must be continuously and actively improved by us.

In this regard, we as the TVB follow the SMART formula, which we also recommend to our member businesses: We set SPECIFIC sub-goals that are MEASURABLE and contribute to the ATTRACTIVENESS of the region. Then we check if their implementation is REALISTIC and set a clear TIMELINE.

We as the TVB see ourselves as a leading operation and are committed to the guest and their needs. Our current focus is on maintaining and expanding the infrastructure for our two core success models World-Class Cross-Country Skiing and Hiking Wonderland. Significant investments have been made in recent years in the construction of trails and tracks as well as in snowmaking. Further investments will be necessary: Some, such as the intensification of snowmaking in Leutasch, are already underway. Others are on our agendas. Of course, we are also concerned with the third influenceable success model, the vibrant pedestrian zone of Seefeld. In cooperation with the municipality and businesses, a sophisticated lighting concept, a well-filled event calendar with highlights such as Tuesday Market, Strudel Festival, Crafts Festival, and Christmas Market, as well as the action Magic of Early Winter, which starts before Advent, have been created. All measures are also intensively supported from a marketing perspective.

But what could the concrete implementation of the success patterns of companies, employees, and the population look like?

The vision is set, the tools are ready. Now it is up to all of us to actively shape the future of our region and to infuse our distinctive offerings with life.

Above all, the core brand and THE atmosphere depend on everyone: the tourism association, the businesses, the employees, and ultimately the entire plateau population. Are our streets and houses decorated and illuminated seasonally and for specific festivals? Do suitable flowers adorn our villages and squares from spring to autumn? Are there larger and smaller events? How are our employees dressed, and how do they communicate with guests? How can we convey the special, high-quality, active and enjoyment-oriented atmosphere of Tyrol's high plateau to our visitors? A particular strength here are the many family-run businesses in the region, which have often been passed down from generation to generation for 100 years and live the atmosphere out of conviction. Ultimately, however, everyone can immerse themselves and share the uniqueness of the high plateau – a motivation for many to be here and work.

A decisive success pattern for summer tourism is that of enjoyable hiking; for winter, that of cross-country skiing. Favored by nature, an active approach is also necessary here. Concrete tasks for businesses could include: a rental and maintenance service for equipment (think: poles and shoes in summer, boot dryers, ski racks, and waxing service in winter), providing the appropriate map and information materials, as well as knowledge of digital tools and apps.

Moreover, it would be important that particularly the reception and shop staff have around five hikes or cross-country routes of varying difficulty in the immediate vicinity of the business in mind and can explain them. Because even in times of digital navigation, nothing replaces personal recommendations and conversations for guests.

Meeting the needs of guests can also be achieved with a seasonally adapted, healthy food offering, tasty lunch packages, complementary services in wellness and health, as well as preserving our diverse range of activities (think: alpine skiing, swimming, cycling, indoor sports, and much more) for variety.

Last but not least, and here we are all called upon again, as entrepreneurs, employees, and private individuals, it involves the careful handling of our nature and its preservation as our most important destination asset. Whether through active participation in small actions like the annual Clean Up Challenge or by exemplifying and supporting sustainable tourism.

Guest magazine

Since May, we have our new guest magazine obenauf. It has been deliberately designed without a year to make it available as a timeless and long-term usable print product. Why was it developed and why is it worth reading?

In 90 beautifully designed and deliberately ad-free pages, the regional strategy is translated into stories and conveys what defines us. Even the title obenauf not only takes us to the highest plateau in Austria but also conveys the unique feeling – to stand obenauf, above everyday life. In the visual language, we use the view from above on special and ordinary things and create THE atmosphere: Warm colors welcome you, photos of nature and sports, enjoyment, and variety appeal to our target groups. Whether alone, as a couple, or with family, everyone can find their obenauf moment with us. The focal topics "enjoyable hiking" and "shopping and events in the pedestrian zone of Seefeld" make you want a vacation in the region.

Further highlighted areas include the diverse activities and sports opportunities in the region, exciting excursions in nice and bad weather, and last but not least, our "sustainability strategy" including "public transport and mobility on site," as well as some information and stories about the "Karwendel Nature Park". The (Conservation) rules of the nature park can also be found charmingly presented in the niche topic "vacation with a dog".

The magazine's layout alternates between stories, tips, and facts. The graphic design supports lighthearted reading enjoyment. A double page with puzzles actively engages especially the young guests. The final shift towards autumn activities and winter announces a second edition for the cold season.

We invite you to place the magazine in your reading corners and browse through it yourself. Because with each page and story, you will discover the Tyrolean plateau anew, even as a local, and see it with a appreciative perspective.

Exchange & Information

Tips and information on how you as entrepreneurs can implement the regional strategy can be obtained from our landlord coaches. The management and board members are happy to visit individual businesses to discuss the strategy in person. And of course, we are available for any questions at region@seefeld.com.

You can also regularly find information and reports on how the tourism association implements core brand values and success models online at PlateauIntern.

A detailed description of the strategy and the implementation steps that we as TVB take can also be found in our Guide: The Handbook for the Tourism Strategy. You can find it online as well as in all information offices.
