Chapels

The Itz Chapel is located in the district of Unterkirchen by the Itzlhof and was built in the early 19th century.

An inscription on the small chapel provides information about its origin: "To the fallen soldiers in the year 1805, friends and foes, gathered under the cross of Jesus Christ following various war flags." It is easy to imagine that the chapel was erected over the grave of the soldiers who fell on November 4, 1805, in the Napoleonic Wars, as tradition reports. This belief is reinforced by the fact that at that time there was neither a church nor a cemetery in Unterleutasch.

The small chapel with a tower received its present appearance in 1975 when it was renovated or newly built by Alfons and Katharina Reindl.
