Investment in the future
With our strategy, we have chosen a path for the future, having identified two target guest groups through thorough analysis. Now it is time to invest in order to remain an attractive destination.
Together with the Tirol Tourism Board, the local tourism associations recently gained deep insights into their TVB-specific target groups. Based on extensive, scientifically collected data, guest groups were differentiated according to their travel motives and identified as regionally focused. Tirol's high plateau will henceforth concentrate mainly on "demanding travel fans" and "families seeking relaxation". These groups fit very well into the success patterns of our strategy, have a lot of potential, already perceive the region very positively, and complement each other optimally during their preferred booking periods. Our next goal must therefore be to further develop our product range for these two groups. We are oriented towards the offers that excite them, as this is where there is the greatest potential for increase. Similar to the strategy, the focus on two target groups helps in the effective use of resources, without diminishing the existing breadth of our offerings.
Great factors of enthusiasm are winter hiking, cross-country skiing, and long-distance hiking, as well as good food and an upscale wellness offering. A family-friendly cycling offer and good opportunities for enjoyable mountain biking are also high on the expectation list.
As a tourism association, we can focus on the infrastructural topics of hiking, cross-country skiing, and cycling.

All three topics would be found as a focus, respectively, the product bike as a future offering in the strategy. "The extensive, objective data confirm our basic orientation," the managing director expresses satisfaction. "Therefore, we now want to start the active product development and implementation." However, both steps require significant investments that need to be financed.
Here comes the much-discussed possible increase in the residence fee. Adjusted for inflation, this currently should not be at €3.50, but rather around €4.20. "If we want to successfully invest this – which would benefit the entire region – money into the future of our location, an increase to the maximum of €5.00 would make sense," says Walser. The additional revenue would create the necessary scope for design to refine existing offerings and start new projects.
Specifically, in the 2026 budget, the expansion of the bike offerings is planned, as well as investments in the tourist infrastructure of the region. As the operator of Arena365, the focus is also on the further development of this renowned sports facility. The strongest Nordic snow-making system in the Alps, installed there, guarantees the preservation of our world-class standard in cross-country skiing offerings. Furthermore, a new indoor and outdoor generation offering is on the table.
Many of these tourist investments would also benefit the local population, especially families on the plateau. The quality of life would increase, engaging and exciting a younger demographic of residents and tourists, thereby securing the future. The planned investments would also be of great value as an incentive in the search for labor.

Future-ready in Cross-Country Skiing
The importance of regular investments was demonstrated by the past winters with little snow. Like hardly any other region, we were able to offer good cross-country skiing conditions in almost any weather situation. A service that not only professionals appreciate. "The snow reliability and the early start to the season are of enormous importance. They provide planning security for competitive, recreational, and club sports," says German cross-country skiing and biathlon coach Thomas Schöpf, who trained double Olympic champion Laura Dahlmeier from 2015 to 2019. "In addition, the lighting of the A1 trail in Seefeld allows working recreational athletes to take a lap pretty much anytime."
To remain a leader in cross-country skiing, we also invested in our two cross-country centers in 2025. The Seefeld Cross-Country Center has had the most efficient and powerful Nordic snowmaking system in the Alps since 2024. In 2025, key points of the C2 Trail towards Wildmoos were integrated to expand the snow-safe network of trails. The Leutasch Cross-Country Center has successfully relied on a snow depot for several years at the start of the season. Additionally, in 2024 and 2025, the existing snowmaking system was gradually expanded and enhanced. It now operates with an innovative central air system that is extremely energy efficient and works even at borderline temperatures around -3 degrees. Thanks to this, the newly expanded forest trail is completely covered with snow over four kilometers, offering a snow-safe option under critical conditions. The two centers will be displayed separately as such on our website, especially in case of limited trail offerings due to snow conditions.
As an additional highlight, a new high-altitude trail has been created for experienced cross-country skiers between the mountain station Katzenkopf and Wildmoos. On one hand, this draws on Seefeld's Olympic tradition by including parts of the trail from 1976, while on the other hand, it offers the free use of the Katzenkopf lift for cross-country skiers, providing the conveniences that both guests and locals appreciate in the region today.
