Press Release, October 2020
Bike Park Katzenkopf Leutasch

New trail offer in the Seefeld region!
Leutasch, October 14, 2020 – About one and a half years ago, a Tyrolean company took over the former Leutascher Kreith lift in the Seefeld region. Since then, renovations, updates, and planning have taken place under a new name. One of the new projects: the Bikepark Katzenkopf.
After more than a year of planning and preparation, construction for the new bike trails at Katzenkopf began in early October. Four trails of varying difficulty levels will be established in the coming weeks. Both beginner and advanced mountain bikers will find something suitable at Katzenkopf starting in the summer season of 2021. The green, very easy trail will provide an opportunity to get a taste of trail biking. The blue trail, which is also designed to be relatively easy, will feature a nearly 2.3 km flow section with small jumps, technical elements, and natural passages. Beginners will feel confident biking here, and advanced riders will also have fun. For those who enjoy jumps and speed mixed with rugged, natural sections, a 2.1 km long red trail will be constructed.
The trails will start at the mountain station near the Katzenkopf hut, which can be easily reached via the 3-person chairlift. Bikers can also pedal to the starting point via the forest road. Additionally, the region will see the creation of its first uphill trail – instead of the gravel road, (E-)bikers can excitingly and variably ride up to the Katzenkopf hut from the mountain middle.
The biking offerings are rounded off with a new pump track and practice area at the valley station – featuring a fantastic view of the Leutascher mountains and the associated infrastructures, from equipment rental to the local bike school.
This is especially exciting for the kids who were able to test the first jumps and sections a few days ago. Their feedback is taken very seriously here. Furthermore, they were allowed to help out; there is hardly anything as rewarding as helping to shape their new favorite trail themselves. Thus, the excavation professionals provided tools, explained the construction of trails and jumps in a child-friendly manner, discussed optimal line choices with the young stars, and worked on the marked forest areas together.
GF / Bergbahn Leutasch GmbH Markus Windisch summarizes:
"The Katzenkopf Leutasch is to be made cozy, family-friendly, and revitalized again. We are looking forward to offering locals and guests a new, contemporary trail offer starting next summer. Bikers of all ages should be addressed by our new, legal trails."
Elias Walser, managing director of TVB Seefeld, is also pleased about the start of construction:
"As a diverse sports and leisure destination, it is a special cause for joy for the Seefeld region that the first bike park of the region at the Leutascher Katzenkopf will open in the coming spring. We wish the team and all bikers a spectacular start to the next summer season at Katzenkopf!"
A big thank you goes to TVB Seefeld, the municipality of Leutasch, all forestry agencies and stakeholders, the MTB model Tyrol 2.0, and the project management of MTB-Agency. Thanks to the collaborative efforts and great mutual support, the new biking offerings at Katzenkopf have become possible.
The Bikepark Katzenkopf Leutasch is set to open for the summer season of 2021.
So much biking. So much Tyrol.
We are looking forward to it!
